Hello Everyone, and Welcome to our final exclusive Progcast of 2023. Strap yourself in for our last trip around planet progressive for this year. We've taken a short trip from the South of England, to the hallowed North ... Manchester awaits you, and the home of a DJ who has achieved so much in such a short space of time. Please make some noise for the Manchild!!


Manchild, AKA Daz Smith is a Greater Manchester based DJ who refuses to be pigeon-holed, due to him playing what he wants. Comfortable with playing at any time on a line-up, whether that be warm-up, peak or closing time, all the Manchild cares about is that the crowd have the most untold time. 

After only getting back into DJing in 2019, and after a very long absence for family reasons, he fell back in love with the more Progressive sound all over again. Daz quickly became resident for Manchester brand ‘Up Close And Personal Mcr’, indulging in breaks, melodic techno, indie dance and more; Manchild's versatility allows him to flit seamlessly between all of the above. 

Since 2019 he has shared lineups and DJ space with James Zabiela, Cristoph, Anthony Pappa, Jody Wisternoff, Marsh, Cosmic Gate, Grum, John 00 Fleming, Richie Blacker, Mr Sosa, Estiva, My Friend, Fehrplay, Marcus James (Renaissance), Dave Pearce, Diode Eins, Tommy Farrow, John Kelly, Dave Beer and many more at venues such as London's Ministry of Sound, EGG, the Steel Yard and Manchester's Stage & Radio and Joshua Brooks' legendary basement. 

Already in early 2023 he has supported and handed the decks to technical wizard James Zabiela at Mains Castle in Dundee for 'Music is the Answer', and he's done exactly the same for the mighty Cristoph, and Cosmic Gate when supporting them on the UK leg of their 'MOSAIIK Chapter II' World Album tour at Joshua Brooks. Daz not only handed the decks over to Cristoph but also played B2B with him for a little while too. 

With more forthcoming gigs TBA, the Manchild is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Gina Lunata Bio - DJ, Producer, Influencer, Transwoman

Gina Lunata is a DJ, Producer, Influencer Transfemale, who in a short time has influenced thousands of individuals, documenting her transition journey since 2023 with all the seismic shifts in her life that ensue. She documents her experiences and challenges on her Instagram account, @gina_lunata, where she has accrued over 12,000 followers who value her as a role model, a friend, and a source of inspiration. Her words, images and videos on Instagram are aspirational, honest and sometimes humorous, avoiding overly political or sexualised tropes that are sometimes seen in social media.

One thing that has not changed from her previous life as a male - her passion for electronic music production, composition and DJing, with over 20 years experience of releasing on a whole host of prestigious labels within progressive house and breaks circles and DJing on the London underground music scene and Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) several times. She has recently started her Soundcloud account to showcase her talents as a DJ and Producer with one hour sets of eclectic dreamscapes and beat laden music that connect with the hips, heart and head in equal measure. Dancefloor friendly and full of personality, unconstrained by genre and audiences, she’s looking to go beyond strictly LGBTQA+ appeal.

She’s currently working on several video content production concepts showcasing her journey bringing humour, fashion, music, travel and community together with special guests 

Gina is available for interviews, collaborations, and modelling opportunities. She is looking forward to working with brands and organizations that support diversity, inclusion, and empowerment.

John-Paul was raised in West Yorkshire in the UK and has been obsessed with dance music ever since hearing Sasha at Back to Basics in the early nineties. Labels such as Strictly Rythmn, Limbo and Guerilla shaped his teenage years, as did weekly trips to Renaissance, Up yer Ronson and Cream to pay homage to his heroes - Sasha & John Digweed. John-Paul began DJing in pubs in Yorkshire when he was just 16, but it wasn't until he moved to London that he found the scene he was looking for.

Running club nights soon followed, alongside long-time collaborator Robin Arnold – including the legendary 'Biotech' parties on the south coast. Everything clicked into place with his Farringdon based night 'Futurism', located around the corner from Fabric. The essence of the night was to push DJ's that were thought to represent the future of progressive house, and John-Paul DJed alongside exceptional talents such as Steve Gerrard, Nigel Marcussen and Matt Simpson. In 2005 John-Paul moved to the USA, and quickly found like-minded DJs such as Jeffrey Collins and Quantum, and immediately gained a monthly residency in The Pearl Bar in Columbus, Ohio.

John-Paul has since returned to the UK and secured a residency on Saturo Sounds Radio. He runs a monthly show called 'Conversations', which has been running for over 8 years. The idea behind the show is to ask one of his favourite DJs to do a guest mix, which he uses as inspiration for his set. It's following has gone from strength to strength, with fantastic mixes from the likes of Ian Dillon, Kiz Pattison, Samuel Lamont, Jon Towell, Matty Wright, Lee Jordan Nick Craddock and many more up & coming DJ's. Recently John-Paul and Robin Arnold have brought the Futurism brand back to life, with their own label and productions. Their first ‘Collective Futurism EP’ is being released on Saturo Sounds label in 2023. Both tracks and remixes 'Vladivostok' and 'Third fiddle' have been getting fantastic feedback and support from a lot of great DJs.

Always passionate about pushing the deep and dark, intelligent sounds represented in his mixes, John-Paul continues to move with the scene, but never deviates from the progressive sound that first moved him nearly 30 years ago.
