Whether you call it progressive, new wave, power pop, or straight-up rock'n'roll, you can't deny the impact this hard-driving genre made on both sides of the Atlantic. Especially in the early years of MTV. Remember when that cable channel played music videos? They didn't just PLAY 'em; they were dedicated to the medium, setting trends in the entertainment industry for a little over two wonderful decades. Sure, their video countdowns and request shows are relics of a bygone age, but we'll always have the memories. And YouTube.

This mashup is my way of paying tribute to that fondly missed era of the not-too-distant past. Here's a list of all the songs I used:

Dedicated to Mr. K, my tenth grade chemistry teacher, whose class was one of the bright spots of my often-tumultuous high school years. Not just because I actually did well and understood the subject matter for a change, but because he'd often share personal anecdotes and asides about his favorite music. He was a huge fan of rock from the '70s and '80s, so I crafted this mashup in his honor.
