This week we talk Project Zomboid and its Game Style mechanics that allow you to play as you see fit. Do you play as a Lone Wander, a Nomadic style were nothing is tying you down, or do you setup roots and establish a base? or are you a mixture or neither?

Can Project Zomboid be played truly only one way and the best way, or are there many other choices to how to expanded and truly embrace your own way of surviving in this games unforgiving world?

Hello Survivors! Project Zomboid with the crew was an absolute blast. Yet it got us thinking about a post that Indie Stone made on Twitter. 

They had asked the public about map generation, and if they had a preference between the static pre-designed map, or a procedural generated map. 

What are the bonuses of having a static map design, a map design with more RNG, or even a procedurally generated map that survival games like Minecraft have been so successful with? What are the negatives of those designs? 

While we love Project Zomboid because you feel like you are part of the story, is there potentially a better map generation method?

With all the talk about the basements and sewers being added into Project Zomboid, we decided to explore some of the mods, and see if we can't get a taste of what's to come. Unfortunately, the mods were not friendly with other mods, or required a complete custom map. So although we were not able to play it on our livestream, Jarl downloaded and tried them on his home PC and has some feedback about their current state. 

Whenever you have mods like this, where on their own there is a lot of red tape or they don't function at 100%, its awesome to see the developers look at their popularity and still want to do the leg work of redesigning their current system to accomidate for such a cool idea. Project Zomboid Mods Influence Build 42? Ep. 8

Attention Survivors! Indie Stone has been quiet this later part of the summer as they all have been taking their vacations and breaks, but some news has released since the last time we did some reviews on the Thursboid Podcasts. The news that has released are updates on the smaller things they are working on now with the patches comprising of some major changes coming in Build 42. 

However small the changes may seem, they have been hinted to before (as far back as 41.63) and we are finally starting to see some of the hypothetical ideas they had earlier come to life. With the announcement that they are hiring more staff for the work toward Build 42 and beyond, there might be more progress to show through the holiday months.

Project Zomboid isn't your average zombie survival game and base building is essential if you want to stay alive. Whether you build a fortified mansion or simply barricade a safe house, base building will define your survival strategy.

The Challenges of Base Building
Barricades vs. Building: Barricading windows and doors is a quick fix, but building a secure base requires carpentry skills and a steady supply of materials.
The Resource Grind: Finding enough wood planks and nails is a constant struggle, especially in the early game.
Transport Troubles: Vehicles are lifesavers when it comes to hauling materials back to your base. A car or truck can be the difference between life and death.
Horde Hazards: One wrong move and you might accidentally lead a horde back to your base. Keep your noise level down and your escape route clear!

The highly anticipated Build 42 brings a whole new dimension to base building:
Stronger Defenses: Stone walls, brick walls, and more construction options mean tougher bases to withstand zombie onslaught.
Creative Crafting: Smelting, pottery, and expanded crafting opens the door to more personalized and unique base elements.
Farming with Risk: Raise animals for food, but beware - their sounds can lure zombies to your doorstep!
