Sublime Saturdays at Gelato Vero Caffe this last weekend was special as fudge. The Son of Wands showed us his gentle side with his storytelling. He was able to mix an Indie edge with a marshmallow-textured Deep House sound for brilliant effect. This is a surprising departure from is Peak Time sets, although we knew he would own a more calming soundscape in our sacred space.l The place was overflowing with friends,. foot traffic, and top shelf vibery on a rare San Diego overcast day.

He was just looking for an excuse to play it. We're standing by for the track list from The Son of Wands, but here's Thomas' closing set from the second half of the mix.

As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.
