I've always loved the UK Funky sound - it's as if classic American funky house was kidnapped and taken to a South London council estate and fed on a strict diet of soca, African percussion, dubstep, grime, UK garage, and broken beat in order to produce something that was completely London and absolutely, compulsively danceable. Great music! I have had a bunch of these records for years without ever making a full mix, so I thought it was time to fix that. Enjoy!

My art began when similar to “The Devil went down to Georgia” I had a self-fulfilled contest with the devil beating my demons by sobriety plus self-improvement. “These Things Happen” by G-Eazy was a heavy influence on the vision I started to manifest. The origin of the name was created influenced by Kobe Bryant and rising from the ashes.  There started to become a lot of parallels to Kobe and I. Our fathers names are Joe, I spent time in his head coaches hometown (Phil Jackson), we’re both bi-polar, and I was carried away in an ambulance. His spirit was something that really inspired me artistically. Some of my other inspirations include Tupac Shakur, Johnny Cash, Jim Morrison, Ozzy, and Kanye West. There was a timeframe before my debut where I had studied a lot of books that would eventually form my style. The Great Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald, The Prince by Machiavelli, The Doors of Perception, William Shakespeare, Hemmingway, and Edgar Allen Poe. Named Mason from the movie “The Rock” he starts out in Alcatraz. This was symbolic for me because in a sense I broke out of spiritual prison. Instead of Mason I was almost named Ozzy as well… when my mom was giving birth to me “What it’s like” by Everlast was playing on MTV. My mom had me young and after having a father that was mentally abusive to her it quickly became a defining moment of my personality. My music is centered around authentic magic, the gospel, love, progression, elevation, addiction, and change.  Mirroring an ageless artist mirroring Johnny Cash and Jim Morrison 24-Ashes had begun.
