I originally started writing this song as an instrumental with the idea of a verse/chorus melodic structure. I realized that the way the melody scanned, it fit well with a lyric song my wife and I were working on. So it ended up being the basis of that song (Predestined to Glory). After we finished that song, I came back to the instrumental version and fit a melody line using the Trigon-6 on top of the vocals using the same "phrasing" as the vocal version.

This song is very much an equal collaboration between my wife and I in writing and recording. We created the lyrics together. I laid the groundwork with the basic chord structure and melody, and my wife made it come alive with singing, lyrical phrasing, mixing, and production. 

The instrumental melodic portions are provided by a Moog Model D and a Novation Peak. The chord structure and pad are from a Prophet 6. Strymon and Eventide pedals provide much of the atmosphere for the synth portions. Vocal reverb is through Valhalla's wonderful Vintage Verb. We used Melodyne to correct vocal imperfections (don't tell her I said this, but her vocal chords are aging :)

We believe the lyrics are an accurate representation from Scripture about a portion of God's character and His amazing qualities and what He has done for us.

EXP#4

A chillout track in an A/B form with a lo-fi scratchy intro/outro. Most of the parts are analog/hybrid synths: Minimoog Model D (lead), Prophet 6 (pad), Trigon 6 (pad and bass), Novation Peak (some lead). The Minimoog was run through a Walrus Meraki analog delay pedal.

The initial pop of the sound of a needle dropping on a record and the subsequent lifting of the needle at the end was recorded on my Thorens turntable. The scratch/pop was part of the two initial circuits of album (an old Wendy Carlos album). I cut/shortened the pop to sync it up with the 74 bpm song tempo after a few clicks.

I recorded this song in the black cabin in the woods.  The beats were inspired by a woodpecker that was pecking on the roof while I was writing. I used a woodblock sound to replicate it.  While the song is not about a woodpecker, the woodpecker became a metaphor for repeat offenses.

Witch Cabin is the solo project of Brooklyn-born and San Francisco-raised artist Tracy Marcellino, a multidisciplinary creative whose music blends raw vocals, synth-driven arrangements, and brutally honest poetic lyricism. Named after the black cabin in the woods where she writes most of her material, Witch Cabin is both a physical space and a psychological one—introspective, charged, and emotionally off-center.

Raised on Thriller, Purple Rain, and vintage reggae, Tracy was a latchkey kid with a yellow Walkman and a rich interior landscape. She cut her teeth singing in underground cyphers, fronted bands for years, and eventually found her voice solo. Witch Cabin is where that voice lives now.

Her upcoming EP, We Want Connection, explores longing, avoidance, and the chaos of modern intimacy. It's a body of work that confronts the way we chase closeness while sabotaging it in real time. Anchored by minimal production and highly personal yet universal lyrics, the EP refuses traditional structure in favor of tension, repetition, and unraveling in the most gratifying ways.

My first substantive memory involving music was playing vinyl records on my father’s Magnavox turntable through a Heathkit tube amp and speakers housed in handmade cabinets. It is a sepia-tinted, yet still vivid, recollection. My memory of a Tchaikovsky piano concerto, Mario Lanza’s soaring tenor, Danny Kaye’s infectious joy, and the Harmonikings’ rocking harmonica set some of the foundation for my attitude toward music.

In spite of my obvious talent at playing hip 70’s tunes on the turntable, my parents chose piano for me. I reluctantly took lessons and battled piano teachers for the next 10 years and learned almost nothing.

Eventually, things clicked and a desire to learn music emerged. Synthesizers made an appearance, the Beach Boys injected their tunes into the psyche, Electric Light Orchestra provided a magic carpet of escape, and Frank Mills released a song called “The Music Box Dancer”. Without the benefit of the Internet in 1979, I tracked down the name and composer of that piano-driven song, purchased the sheet music, and became enamored of melodic piano tunes.

The realization that radio songs could be played on the piano gave me a reason to practice music and find joy in it. All the while, the siren-call of the synthesizer, demonstrated by greats such as Kitaro, Wendy Carlos, Jean-Michel Jarre, Isao Tomita, and Vangelis, guided my musical tastes. The foundation of melody and strong lyrical content realized by synthesizers shaped my approach to writing and recording songs.
