Alex Sp Groove & Lipe Forbes & Propulse - Rock The Rhythm

This last Sublime Saturday at Gelato Vero was the first time Thomas had the entire slot. We have two hours of higher-BPM Deep House and Techno Lite that took shape organically while trying to mix in key. In between the DHTL sandwich we have some Disco, Dark Garage, and *maybe* some Tech House? It all sounds nice enough. I dunno. This one hits different. It's kinda new for him. You be the judge. 

It was another overcast one. Nothing that a pint of gelato, an Italian soda, and a view of the bay can't fix. Good friends, foot traffic, and joyous jubilation were just what the doctor ordered. Join us on our future journeys to hear the live sound! We don't record it every time.

Lipe Forbes is one of the pioneers of electronic music production in Brazil. He founded his trance project Skulptor in 1999. As Skulptor, Lipe Forbes released two albums and several songs in compilations on the most famous trance labels. Lipe has performed in several countries such as Japan, Mexico, United States and all around Europe. Nowadays, the music of Lipe Forbes walks between the Progressive House and Deep House. Lipe still maintains techniques and equipments used at the beginning of the 20th century, such as analog synthesizers and tube amplifiers, always in search of new flavors and sounds to be combined with the new technologies. Today, Lipe Forbes has a long discography with more than 100 songs released by the most diverse record labels around the world. With a monthly average of releases, Lipe Forbes seeks to keep his fans always updated with new music.

As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.
