Universal Worthy's Blues

Hi, everyone! I’m back, and it’s with a super vanilla one for a change! I shall be recording in a garage from now on, and will continue working on improving the sound quality in this new environment. This is the first narrative audio I’ve done where the speaker is quoting a lot of speech in her anecdote. I hope the bits where she’s reporting what she said to her friend are distinct — in the script there are so because of quotation marks, and I should perhaps have added more stuff like ‘and so I said’ for clarity. The parts where she reports what he said to her should be pretty clear because I did my best guy voice, haha. Anyway, I hope it works overall.

I like the slightly silly speaker-character. She’s a good girl, but young and impulsive, and needs to be saved from herself, not left in the clutches of some cad. My voice perhaps makes her sound more confident and mature than the text itself would imply. Just imagine that that’s the woman she will mature into by her late twenties, with a bit of help from a solid friend. 

 Synopsis:

    When another relationship ended, leaving her heartbroken, she reached out for her best friend once again. He always knew what to say and what to do to make her feel better. As she waited for him to show up, she started to realise that maybe she needed a little more from him than just some ice cream and kind words for a change.

Scriptwriter’s remarks:

    The title came to me yesterday evening, and then the story flowed from it. […] Maybe some people will like it, even if maybe it isn’t the type of story some might like.

Extract:

    When I called him and gave a tentative hello, he could hear the desperation in my voice. He could probably hear it in my breathing. This wasn’t the first time I had reached out to him like this. I think he knew the words that were going to come out of my mouth before they were spoken.

    “He broke up with me,” I said, my voice shaking, almost breaking. “Can… can you come over?”

In the mythology of the Western World dragons are often seen as evil, as horders, as slayers of men. In Eastern Asian mythologies the dragon is seen very differently, as a beneficent creature, as a principle of heaven. 

Dragon beings can be very helpful at this time of ascension. Dragons have lots of wisdom to share with us and meditation is a great way to establish a relationship and build rapport with the wisdom and power of the Dragon Kingdom. 

In this transmission we journey to meet a group of Snow Dragons. They transmit to you light, peace and love. One dragon chooses you, you fly together to a distant mountain peak where the dragon shows you a sanctuary, a holy place in the mountain, a large crystal cave for you to shape and create a s your own safe space.

This song accompanies my class about taxes, tariffs, international trade, and joy. I wanted to create something that feels like a gentle fairy tale - sweet, upbeat, then slow and contemplative - almost like a princess teaching children about the world while protecting and discovering life alongside the animals.
What this song is really about:
Around the world, we ship things back and forth constantly. But we don't often prioritize the actual living, breathing lives involved in the process - the logistical workers, the people on ships, the animals, the humans affected by these systems. Instead, we focus on numbers, speed, and profits. We make commercials, movies, and shows that normalize this, telling everyone things are "cool and normal" while a few people "win" and everyone else exists in a poorly-prioritized system.
A challenge for future leaders:
As you learn about trade, I challenge you to NOT take the easy road. What's the easy road? Lazy. Greedy. Ignorant.
Instead: Study. Learn. Be brave, kind, and virtuous. Learn to be fair to animals and to each other - especially internationally, where trades and cultures are very different. We can work on our skills in communicating, getting along, and caring for one another. Trade could be so much more efficient if our world learned to work together and communicate better.
It can happen with your help.
Let's take care of each other and empower those who can't speak up for themselves. Let's make the future wonderful for everyone and everything, as best as we can. That starts with education, bravery, and integrity.
