Nihonjin, de los nipones Far Out, publicado en marzo de 1973 posiblemente es el último gran disco de la etapa más prolífica y esplendorosa de rock japonés, iniciada en 1969. Celebramos su 50 aniversario con un programa doble recogiendo algunos de los mejores álbumes publicados en el país del sol naciente entre esos periodos. Las menos son bandas algo conocidas, otras de culto pero, por lo general, infravaloradas por venir de donde vienen y no ser anglosajonas. En esta primera parte suenan:

This song was written by Mars Bonfire in 1968 and made the american rockband Steppenwolf famous. It is also considerated as inspiring the heavy metal gender name.
I record this song with my friend Cedric C. for the backing vocals.

BORN TO BE WILD - MACTWIST

If you don't know what Slice of Pie is, the idea is that I come up with a single riff on the fly and then improvise a full song and arrangement off of it, also improvising the layers on top.

This is the first slice of pie with vocals due to the improvisation factor. It is also the first with bass because I recently got a bass. The bass is the focal point.

The vibe I was going for was "Black Sabbath in space" and I think I accomplished that. I don't normally turn these into full songs but for this I plan to because I like it alot and want to perfect it.

From the rain-soaked toll of a distant church bell, "Letters of Gold" emerges from the shadows. This is pure, 1970s-style doom metal in the vein of early Ozzy.
A slow, monolithic tritone riff opens the floodgates to a lurching, heavy groove, driven by a fuzzed-out bass and powerful, crash-heavy drumming. Haunting, high nasal tenor vocals, delivered in a classic Ozzy style, tell a dark tale of figures in black and a world on the brink.
Prepare for a fiery, psychedelic wah-drenched guitar solo and a frantic, double-time bridge that pushes the song to its breaking point before slamming back into the abyss for a final, feedback-drenched chord.
