After their triumphant return with the "Stardust Revival" tour, the Galactic Mystics found themselves craving a new creative direction. During a retreat in the desolate expanses of the Nevada desert, the band experienced a profound encounter. Late one night, while experimenting with various substances around a campfire, they claimed to have seen a spectral cowboy riding across the celestial horizon. This vision of the "Rider of the Celestial Wastelands" ignited their imaginations, leading to a new musical journey.

Back in their makeshift studio—an abandoned barn in the middle of nowhere—they began to weave their otherworldly experience into music. They decided to blend their signature space-fantasy rock with elements of haunted country, psychedelic, and blues to create a unique soundscape that captured the eerie beauty of the spectral cowboy’s quest.

This ripe piece of funk started with JJ essentially composing it on the e. Piano, organ, drums, and bass. He had the Eclectic Collective in mind when he did so, though. JJ actually is playing his drum kit on this one, so funkily that we decided to keep his drums in there. That didn't leave a whole lot of room for Ken to get in on it, but he managed to add a really cool ehru part. The ehru is a two stringed asian violin with a distinct high percussive sound. JJ's bass line was so well played and solid, we decided to keep it in there, too, which also left Josh searching for a place in the mix. He decided to go last with the lap slide to anchor the foundation of the blues idiom. But he did that after Stephen and Tez cast their spells on the song with their magical guitars. Tez can be heard with the trippy, delay-heavy staccato lines, and Stephen with the silky smooth crying blues lines throughout. 
  Of course, every great song needs a great mixer and producer, and we're lucky enough to have Stephen to do the honors on this one for us.
  This song represents The Eclectic Collective at our funky finest, and we always enjoy and appreciate when JJ starts a song for us. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

Vera’s Son is a music project by a graveyard shift working song-man.

Vera’s Son was started 22 years ago by a socially awkward named Don Dreste.  The project's name comes from Don's time working in a kitchen at a convent in Lemay, MO.  Don composed songs in his mind to pass the time while working in the cafeteria. One of the old nuns at the convent could never remember his name, so she called him "Vera's Son" (Don's mother's name who also worked at the convent). 

Growing up in the working-class Lemay, Vera's Son is deeply rooted in the blue-collar experience. The themes and melodies of Vera's Son songs carry on the tradition of hard work, craftsmanship, and the realism that was laid down by bands like The Beatles and The Smiths.  The project is also influenced by a wide range of other artists, including the Psychedelic Furs, Slowdive, Nirvana, Otis Redding, Air, The Pogues, Iron Butterfly, Pink Floyd, Marvin Gaye, Hank Williams, Howlin Wolf, and Blind Wille Johnson. The songs are soaked in walls and waves of sound that offer kinship to any damaged shipwrecked soul.

Vera's Sons New Album, Madaford Mélange, is years of compositions coming to fruition through vision, effort, and insight.
