Rising of Godzilla (Re-Dirty Edit)

Once in a while we go full-on revision in our Limpodisco penthouse, digging through the hard drives and dusting off what’s been hiding there for years. We’ve got our own vault of works that are like forever “in progress”, and Rising of Godzilla is one of those early choons. The original was so raw and unpolished it took us years of technical evolution to carve it into something luminous. Kicking things off leftfield on this single-album is our Re-Dirty Edit — a modern spin on the track. Still, we kept that vintage soul alive in the mastering, chasing a sound that feels like a late-90s radio broadcast, maybe even a lost cut from Essential Selection. The title itself drifts into fantasy: imagine Godzilla, mighty yet oddly gentle, waking up in a good mood and deciding to spread kindness — all for the karma. His rising stirs the oceans, and that tidal power ripples straight through the speakers 🦎🏙️💥

Drew Exildiscount is a composer, sound engineer, producer and DJ from Berlin. Whether it is in working alongside video artists or in compiling a techno set, Drew’s work always operates along the same tenets: exploring, challenging and recontextualising the different narratives, disciplines, identities, perspectives and discourses that inform both a work itself as much as our understanding of it. In this, they draw on their formal training as much their biography. Born to Christian cultist parents, they spent their childhood playing music in pedestrian malls of Germany with their family band. Escaping the ideological confines of religion and prescriptive masculinity as a gender non-conforming teenager, Drew first pursued training as an events technician, then studied at Humboldt University of Berlin, majoring in Musicology and Media (Studiengang „Musik und Medien“), and minoring in Cultural Studies. They started out DJing in 2003 and now regularly play at parties across the queer scene of Berlin, such as House of Red Doors, Gegen, Chantals House of Shame and as a longtime resident at SchwuZ. Their work is driven by a belief in idealism rather than ideologies.

(A/R label owner of Disposable Commodities) Portland based Justin Screendoor began DJing in 1996, cutting his teeth on the Midwest rave circuit in Chicago, Minneapolis, Madison - a veteran vinyl practitioner with a DIY sound system sensibility, and the versatility to broadcast for a range of atmospheres, venues, crowds, and moments. 
“My DJing style and sound has been honed over the last 20 years playing weekly residency slots, afterhours, loft parties, warehouses, festival stages, all types of clubs in between and dedicated bedroom sessions.  The focus for my sets is to push the limits of what the dancefloor can take – getting weird and psychedelic– perfecting an adventurous yet streamlined DJing style. I specialize in underground house and techno (Detroit, Chicago, Berlin) with dalliances into minimal, disco, breaks, and ambient.  I am a new music obsessive - avidly tracking new music releases on the daily and finding continued inspiration.  I also started the Disposable Commodities (DIS.CO) record label in 2014 and I try to put out 1 to 2 new releases a year.”

Analog Dog makes genre fluid music in San Francisco, USA. Formed in 2019 & hailing from all corners of the country, the band came together in and around the hallowed musical breeding grounds of Golden Gate Park, with an intention of breaking free from the modern malaise and putting on transcendent live performances. Having once been described as ‘the sound of the 70s but from the future’, Analog Dog’s music is steeped in nostalgia that simultaneously embraces modern indie pop / nu-disco / jazz fusion soundscapes.
