Improvisation over All of Me

Quintet written for piano, violin, cello, flute and clarinet. This is a recording of the first rehearsal with players from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. 

Quintet in G Minor (Rehearsal)

Keeping on the trend of digging up old school projects, lol. This is a suite for woodwind quintet that is set up like a video game soundtrack, following an adventurer's journey from beginning to end:

III. "Tread On" for The Temples
IV. "Find the Resolve" for Magma Cliffs
V. "To Rise Against the Odds" for The Final Battle
VI. "To Be a Hero" for End of the Journey

We weren't able to prepare for it as well as we'd hoped, so maybe one day I'll reach out and get a proper recording. This recreation will do for now, though.

Suite for A Hero's Journey

This piece is inspired by an Ayarachi ritual-music-dance that I heard in the area of Paratía (Puno, Peru), very close to Lake Titikaka. The ritual is used for the fertility and growth of cattle. Paratia means “the place where the rain lives.” This song is performed in the dry season, therefore, it seems to be an almost agonizing and painful request for rain.

The premiere was performed by ONIX Ensamble. This piece received the Frist Prize and the Public Prize in the Euregio Klassika Composition Competition 2024 in Italy.

Quintet op.8

John Montesante Quintet is a stylish, horn-led Jazz Ensemble formed in 1990, with its heart in bebop and modern trumpet, while embracing a diverse array of Jazz standards. The band performs with a wide array of jazz singers. On this populdr 1935 jazz standard, performed live by the JMQ, the singer is Yvette Johansson.

Ganador del primer premio y el premio del público en el Concurso Internacional de Composición “Euregio Klassika” (2024) en Italia. También fue laureado en los siguientes certámenes: Concurso Internacional de Composición “Carlos Guastavino” (2023) organizado por el Festival Internacional “SONUS”; XXI Concurso Municipal de Composición Musical “Adrián Patiño” en Bolivia; III Internacional Piano & Composition Competition “World Teachers Association” en Argentina; “Classical Music Stars” (2024) en Polonia; IX Concurso Municipal de Artes de los Nuevos Medios en Bolivia (2021); “Ideas Creativas” (2020) organizado por la Fundación Cultural del Banco Nacional de Bolivia. Desde el 2021 es miembro de la Asociación Argentina de Compositores.


Daniel ha tocado como solista de piano con la Master Orchestra en Verona (Italia), la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Bolivia y la Orquesta Sinfónica de El Alto. Como pianista fue ganador del “II Concurso Internacional Festival de Pianistas” en Argentina. Recibió la medalla “Genoveva Ríos” otorgado por la Prefectura de Oruro (Bolivia).


Estudió en la Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe (Alemania), la Universidad Nacional de las Artes (UNA) en Buenos Aires (Argentina) y el Conservatorio Plurinacional de Música (Bolivia), siendo sus principales profesores y mentores en piano: Dr. h. c. Kalle Randalu, Aldo Antognazzi, Grace Rodríguez y Sarah Ismael. En composición: Omar Rojas, Georgina Derbez, Elena Larionow y Miguel Rivera.

I am a composer currently studying composition at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with aspirations to compose music for the concert hall and film.

A stylish horn-led modern Jazz Ensemble formed in 1990, JOHN MONTESANTE QUINTET [aka JMQ] has a penchant for New York bebop, with a modern take on Blue Note standards and special arrangements, featuring Australia's finest Jazz players and vocalists. The JMQ JAZZ DECTET, conceived in 2012, is the extended 10 piece version of the band, with a guitar & four horns added, performing John Montesante's dedicated jazz arrangements.
