Hailing from the DFW area, Jayy Retto is a genre-agnostic artist whose work lives in the space between grit and precision. Drawing from a wide range of influences — Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, JPEGMAFIA, The Neptunes, Saba, and others — his sound is unboxed and unpredictable, shifting between razor-edged rap verses and melodic, emotionally charged hooks.

The grandson of a Grammy-winning salsa and jazz musician, Retto’s musical instincts run deep. After starting out on drumset as a kid, he found his voice in high school through production and songwriting—crafting tracks that are as intentional as they are explosive.

Retto’s music grapples with self-worth, capitalism, and the uncomfortable contradictions of navigating a world that sells you back your identity. His ethos is simple: be yourself—even when no one’s clapping yet.
