Ukrainian Voices – RC : une communauté d'entraide née de l'exil
Créée en juillet 2022 avec le soutien du HCR Belgique-Luxembourg, Ukrainian Voices – RC est une association dirigée par des réfugiés ukrainiens, née de la volonté de transformer l’exil en solidarité. Unique en son genre, elle est majoritairement composée de femmes ayant fui la guerre avec leurs enfants, et s’est donné pour mission de faciliter l’intégration de ses membres dans la société belge, tout en veillant à leur protection et à leur bien-être.
L’association s’appuie sur quatre projets phares :
• des abris sécurisés pour les personnes sous protection temporaire,
• un centre communautaire favorisant le lien social, l’accès aux services et la culture,
• un centre d’orientation sociale et sanitaire (SHOC),
• et des équipes mobiles qui vont à la rencontre des plus vulnérables.
Avec plus de 60 employés, 12 coordinateurs réfugiés et 350 bénévoles, Ukrainian Voices agit chaque jour pour répondre de manière humaine, concrète et coordonnée aux besoins de centaines de familles déplacées.
Au-delà de l’aide matérielle, elle incarne l’espoir, la résilience et la force d’une communauté qui se soutient pour mieux reconstruire l’avenir.

Welcome to Belonging and Beyond: Exploring Belonging Through How We Live and Die, brought to you by Princess Alice Hospice with your hosts Rach Basak, Head of Community Involvement and Support and Sarah Dowd, Head of Inclusion.

In this series, we’ll have honest conversations about inclusion, belonging, and the barriers created in society for some. Together with guests from all walks of life, we’ll be unpacking big questions like: What does belonging look like? Who gets to belong? And how can we build communities where everyone feels seen and included?

We are excited to be here and hope it sparks reflection, connection, and maybe even change.
Today, we’re highlighting the experiences of refugees and displaced people, emphasising the vital importance of belonging and the opportunity to contribute to society as part of their journey. 

We are joined by Nurettin, a trustee at Elmbridge CAN — a local charity doing incredible work to support refugees and asylum seekers here in our community. Nurettin has also generously offered to share his own lived experience, helping us understand the challenges and triumphs that come with building a sense of belonging in a new place.

My name is Hanna. I’m an artist, art therapist, and special education teacher. I’m Ukrainian and have been living in Estonia for three years now because of the war in Ukraine — it’s dangerous in my hometown, Kyiv.
I draw inspiration from the majesty of nature and from people whose words align with their actions.

My hobbies include collecting stones, playing the guitar, working with clay, and photography. I love gazing at the sky for a long time and feeling present in the moment.

A few months ago, we were invited to curate a show for Sister FM and Refugee Week. HabibTati decided that we should create a sound piece.
 
"I have wanted to return to sound art and create my sounds for some time now to emphasise the importance of not only seeing but also hearing our voices in a non-orientalised way. An intentional approach that responds to the ongoing hate and racism towards migrants and refugees, as well as the ongoing genocide. An authentic way that allows us to take control of our collective struggles, educate ourselves and highlight the need for change"
  
The theme was 'community as a superpower,' so we created a piece dedicated to those who want their stories heard, specifically, those who identify as queer refugees. This 16.5-minute piece represents only a fraction of the millions of stories that go unheard, are silenced, or are blamed on in the media for failures of our government.
 
For many of us, whether from queer refugee backgrounds or not, refugee solidarity extends beyond borders. Within your local communities, please support refugee charities and events, if you can help people not only financially but also by being present and supportive.

Il reprend le principe du secret professionnel (article 7, repris ci-dessous), en y ajoutant un devoir jugé essentiel, celui de la protection des sources d'information des journalistes.
