<<< Pt. 2 >>> Big up all reggae massive! On this set I pay tribute to 2 reggae radio DJ's who were very influential to me during the 1994-2001 time period. Before the internet, iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp, Soundcloud and other music streaming platforms, music lovers like myself would often record their favorite songs off the radio onto cassettes to create their own physical mix tape to enjoy. Well that's exactly what I did while in my early 20's on Wednesday afternoons from 12pm-3:30pm when DJ Isa "The Ion Lion" on 89.5FM KPOO in San Francisco came on. Isa played wicked roots reggae vinyl from all the greats while also featuring and a few ruff local reggae artists too. I had always enjoyed Isa's show with his commentary on local issues that were happening during that time in San Francisco along with the wicked music he played. Then on Thursday nights from 8pm-11pm on the same station 89.5FM KPOO was DJ Don Don who also played roots reggae vinyl alongside some wicked dancehall vinyl from that time period too. Don Don's show also featured interviews from in studio guests from time to time that I also enjoyed. 

I got into reggae music around 1987, and I was still learning about the artists and their songs myself. I did know a lot of the artists/tunes they were playing during those times but there were also about a dozen or two songs that I had recorded on my cassette mixtape that I never could identify. As the years passed they stop making cassette players and mine stopped working so I couldn't listen to them anymore. They had always just been trapped in my head for 30 years. But recently my son had bought a four track cassette player for himself and I asked to use it. I searched through my archives and dug up that mixtape that had those tunes on it. I was able to record clips of all of the tunes I wanted to identify and with the power of the internet, I asked reggae connoisseurs from all around the world if anyone could help me out with that. Within a few months I had them all identified and now 30 years later was able to secure vinyl copies of them all to add to my personal vinyl collection. I had also learned through the years that Isa "The Ion Lion" had passed away in Florida over 10 years ago, while nobody I know that knew DJ Don Don really knows what ever happened to him with a few people saying they think he moved away out of the area. 

So here, I present to you my 2 hr & 40 min tribute to these 2 legendary San Francisco reggae radio DJ's in which all of the songs on this set were played at one time or another on their shows including those tunes I had been searching about 30 years for.

Born in Montreux on March 7, 1986, Bobby is passionate about singing and music since his childhood. A singer with a message of love, unity and justice deeply embedded in his music.

From the age of seven, music reverberated through his small frame and hypnotized the souls of all those who listened to his voice.

Bob Marley and Peter Tosh are among the many influences in his music.
His beautiful voice has been resonating his positive message, and his songwriting to this day ensuring that Bobby Davison will always exemplify spirituality in music. Through his music, he preach brotherhood and peace for all of mankind.

In 2007, Bobby Davison went to Brazil, he made several concerts in Canoa Quebrada with his friend Selecta Bruno Huart of the Freedom Sound. In 2012, Bobby went back to Brazil, this time he stayed three months. He made lots of live shows in Fortaleza, Mossoro, Araccati and in Canoa Quebrada.

January 7th 2015, Bobby Davison created his own label " Big Tiger Records ".
