RSV: The Next Frontier in Respiratory Disease Management

Die Ständige Impfkommission (STIKO) am Robert Koch-Institut empfiehlt seit Januar erstmals eine Standardimpfung gegen Meningokokken B für Säuglinge. Wie gefährlich sind diese und andere Meningokokken überhaupt für Kinder, und was ist bei der Impfung in der Kinderarztpraxis zu beachten? Was tut sich darüber hinaus bei den Pneumokokken-Impfstoffen? Wann ist eine Reiseimpfung gegen Dengue-Fieber empfohlen? Und wie ist der Stand beim Schutz vor RSV-Infektionen? Darüber sprechen wir mit Univ.-Prof. Dr. Markus Knuf in dieser ersten Folge von O-Ton Pädiatrie. Er ist Chefarzt an der Klinik für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin am Klinikum Worms und Professor für Pädiatrische Infektiologie und Pädiatrische Intensivmedizin an der Universitätsmedizin Mainz.

R-S-V – diese drei Buchstaben stehen für ein Virus, das weit verbreitet ist und die Atemwege befallen kann. Seit Kurzem liegt die aktualisierte Leitlinie zum „Management der ambulant erworbenen Pneumonie bei Kindern und Jugendlichen (pCAP)“ vor. Was gibt es Neues in der Leitlinie, z. B. in Bezug auf Diagnostik, Therapie, Antibiotika-Gabe, Komplikationen etc.? Welche Rolle spielen Pneumonien in der pädiatrischen Praxis und Klinik? Und was ist bezüglich Atemwegserkrankungen für den kommenden Winter zu erwarten? Darüber und auch über die Möglichkeiten und Empfehlungen zur Prävention von Atemwegsinfekten haben wir mit Professor Dr. Markus Knuf gesprochen. Er findet übrigens, dass die aktualisierte Leitlinie den Pädiaterinnen und Pädiatern in Praxis und Klinik eine große Sicherheit bei der Diagnostik gibt.
