Wickend 21 - Radio Birdman (27-11-2021)

Se cumplen 50 años del último largo de Stooges, Raw Power (7-2-1973), un disco que inicialmente iba a ser de Iggy en solitario, pero éste logró que la banda al completo viajara con él a Londres para grabar con David Bowie. Disco inmortal de un grupo que fue víctima tanto de sus adiciones como de una sociedad norteamericana que no estaba preparada para una propuesta de ese calado. 
Stooges, una de las bandas más seminales de la historia de la música, germen del punk pero también influencia capital en muchos estilos de rock y otros géneros más extremos. 
Suenan muchas de Stooges, algo de su influencia principal -sus hermanos mayores MC5- y más de Detroit con la Sonic’s Rendezvous Band. También Iggy Pop, New Race -el supergrupo que se montó en Australia con Ron Ashenton y los Radio Birdman- y J Mascis de Dinosaur Jr con la mitad de los Stooges justo antes de la reunión de estos en 2003.

After Radio Birdman took a break he started The New Christs, first to put out a record, and reforming to play shows with Iggy Pop. 40 years later the New Christs are still playing, though all members bar Rob have changed. 

Rob Younger joined Lindsay McDougall on ABC Illawarra to talk about the band, his thoughts on being called "punk", and some musings on making records in 2024.
