Eve Parker Finley and Nick Schofield both came by the Oven at CJLO on March 16, 2024 to record respective sessions.  Seeing how the two have collaborated extensively, I figured it'd be a neat idea to talk to them both at the same time about working together, how they approach their music, and discussing their own individual and collaborative artistic processes.  This was a really nice and insightful chat with, in my opinion, two of Canada's most interesting musical artists.

The U.S. has the highest incarceration rate in the world, with nearly 2 million people in prison or jail. This is despite the U.S. population making up only about 5% of the world's population. Many of these prisons are above capacity, leading to poor conditions and limited resources. In addition, the U.S. spends about $182 billion each year on incarceration, which is a significant social cost.  Prisoners often face physical and mental trauma, including abuse and solitary confinement, leading to mental health issues.  Wrongful convictions are common, with many exonerated after years in prison, including those on death row. Despite limited rehabilitation, growing advocacy for reform focuses on education, legal support, and better reentry programs, though much work remains to improve conditions and reduce recidivism.
