Chance the Closer – OnYa [Heavy Dubstep / Tearout] [Free DL]

Technically Lydian with a C3 Start Note, the general idea with this was to parody a really monotonous style of Riddim where barely any notes are used and even the sound design in the drops is really monotone and static. This is meant to contrast stun grenade's developed Phrygian mode melody and extreme pitch changes on the drops. 
The result is a hypnotic, yet somewhat haunted sounding loop that maintains its repetition as the drums progress through their evolutionary cycle. Sylenth layers are added and subtracted in order to help maintain the progression. 
The first drop is styled with a similar "classic riddim" feel to "as requested", but Akai Fire knob automation was not used, resulting in a more refined flow.  i added a couple of extra sounds about halfway through drop 1 to switch it up a bit then for drop 2 i linked like 12 parameters to a serum macro then automated that resulting in some very squnto-esque textures. this thing can put you to sleep then wake you right back up or something like that XD 
For the 2nd drop, a serum macro linked to several different parameters made use of drawn automation to create some squnto-esque sounds, with a prominent sub-bass layer adding some interesting textures underneath. 

The drops of this project will be studied closely as we proceed onward from "Here FFS", as the techniques applied here will likely prove useful for quite some time. I'll try to keep most of my future melodies a bit more complex than this though, the simplicity of those sections is intentional. Feel free to Skip around. 
The vocal sample is my voice pitched down several octaves. 
The phrase, "Time to smoke a giant cloud", is a reference to the cloud shaped bags used by Volcano and Extreme Q vaporizer units.

3. LCKDWN - Giant Cloud (Album Mix)

Tearout written in the Neopolitan mode with an F#4 Start Note, takara essentially details the current canon for what happened to my old alias DJ Cataract. in real world terms though i really would appreciate not being cancelled further for anything that happened there. I was in an atrocious state of mental health when certain posts were made on what was then still twitter and these matters contribute to my willingness now to take meds such as paliparidone and fluvoxamine. can we leave it at that or do people have to be even more bullshit than they've already been? like fuck man.

11. LCKDWN - Takara (Album Mix)

Mixolydian Tearout with a D#3 Start Note, the idea was basically to create as bombastic a dubstep track as possible. Credit to Graphyt for the samples from his heavyweight pack WHICH I BOUGHT and used for drop 2.

2. LCKDWN - Oxidizer (Explicit Album Mix)

Every non-percussive sound in this track was made using serum 2. The melodic sections use a horn patch i'm very glad was included with the upgrade while the drops have a more brosteppy sound, it isn't modal and its start note is C6. some have said the melodic sections feel like walking in the woods, i sort of think they sound like hogwarts. a fully deep dub vip has also been released on audius as a LCH-NSS remix. The pre-release version uses a "fuck off" sample that it turns out had been used in a datsik track, so i replaced that with the clip from "rock and roll will take you to the mountain" by skrillex that i'd been mainly thinking of in the first place. tbh there have been quite a few tracks over the course of dubstep history that used british guys going "and fuck you"/"and fuck off", but the skrillex one was what i mainly had in mind. drop 1 is mostly from the serum 2 factory bank, then with drop 2 i started messing with LFOs on a bunch of parameters with 3 oscillators, each loaded with either square 4, the virtual riot growl table, or random cymatics wavetables plus 2 filters set to crazy formant or phaseflange settings. drums & fx are from the deadmau5 xfer pack, sounds of kshmr vol2, and various cymatics packs.

I'm a hard dance & dubstep producer from this weird island-type thing sticking out in the middle of lake ontario on the Canadian side between toronto and kingston. democratic socialist done af with what's happening to the south of me and what's happening here at home too. hardcore stoner who regularly smokes delta-9 distillate and owns a volcano. who i am and am not aligned with is on substack to pretty decent extent at this point. it's like that though. there are people i am and am not down with in this thing and i also don't think much of my regional industry's current incarnation (as in... eastern canada dubstep/dnb promoters) in a lot of areas. Primarily FL Studio based but also have varying degrees of experience with ableton, bitwig, pro tools, maschine, cubase, logic, studio one, audition, etc. Own 9 hardware synths but that's more for the next album. Bought cytomic the glue to get the ableton sidechain in fl but probably moving toward waves c6 and pro mb long-term. upcoming genres to be attempted include jump up, hard techno, more dubstep, bass house, and more hardstyle fusion stuff. next album somewhere between 2028 & 2032.
