Happy Lunar New Year! Welcome the year of the dragon!
I wanted to make a song about the power that dragons, and this year will (hopefully) have. I have forgotten most of the mythology of dragons, I need to go learn more about these amazing creatures. Especially since I was born in the year of the dragon. I like to think they are real, out there in the mountains somewhere, taking flight and avoiding sight. My head is filled with movie and fiction dragons. Like the miserly grump Smaug from The Hobbit. But also the cute animated ones, and that jolly lad named Puff. 
When I started this on drums, I couldn't help but channel the intensity that surrounds these flappy friends. I channeled Smaug more than Puff in this track. But I like to think the dragon in this track is still a friendly sort. I wanted to do a chill interlude where the dragon shares his truth, but didn't have time for that. I may need to do a dragon part 2 next week.
Looking forward to hearing some other songs this week. I hope there are some other dragon songs up here this week?

Between 2003 - 2008 I would co host a radio show alongside DJ Eazy & Richard Bradstreet called G.HE.T.TO.P.I.M.P (Giving Healing Education Through Teaching One Principles Improving Mental Position)show on UCT Radio. Initially myself Eazy & Mr.Fat (R.I.P) Brasse Vannie Kaap was invited by Richard & Fat Cat to be a part of the show to facilitate a host of discussions ranging from hiphop to socio economic matters. Through this radio show we formed our NGO, HHESA (Hip Hop Education South Africa) formely known as The Faculty of Hip Hop  through which we did countless events, interviewed countless of SA hiphop artist and broke their music( 90% local music was a thing already), collaborated with international organizations and did countless school project. This is the audio version of the weekly mix slot which was part of the three hour show which is an all out vinyl affair - no Serato. Let’s transport back into time…

South African born Ricardo Nunes, better known as DJ Azuhl, has become a household name on the South African Hip Hop and DJ scene. Being introduced into hip hop culture in the mid 80s he’s progressed from a dancer to member of the iconic South African band, B.V.K (Brasse Vannie Kaap), a DJ with Africa’s iconic DJ group The Beat Bangaz (alongside Grandmaster Ready D, E-20) & now owner and founding member of the Beat Bangaz DJ Academy based in Cape Town. Known for specializing in Hip Hop, he also has the ability to move crowds across genres of music ranging from funk, soul, dub, house, rock and mashups. He also runs Beat Bangaz Radio a Cape Town based internet radio station specializing in Hip Hop music.

He has opened and performed alongside international artists like Kendrick Lamar, Mos Def, Kanye West, Jay Z, Coolio, The Whooligan, A-Trak, Black Eyed Peas to name a few while also touring Europe annually since 2007 performing at various clubs & festivals like Miami Music Conference (USA), Hip Hop Logique (France), Pukkelpop (Belgium), Schoolyard Breaks (Germany), Battle of the Year (Nigeria). 

Major South South African events and festivals include ULTRA Music Festival, Rocking the Daisies, Sizzled, Back to the City, Red Bull BCOne, Cape Town International Jazz Festival, KKNK, Oppikoppie, South African Music Conference, Rand Easter Show and countless corporate and club events.

He’s signature mixes are featured on Good Hope FM and 5FM respectively - two respected commercial radio stations in South Africa, with a monthly mix slot slot on UK based radio station ’ThisisWestSide FM’ as well. Currently running Beat Bangaz Radio he also has a weekly radio show on the online platform.

Besides DJ accolades Azuhl impresses with a couple of number one singles on Good Hope FM, one of Cape Town’s biggest commercial radio stations & award nominations like the 2017 ‘Best Hip Hop single’ with Early B for the prestigious Afrikaans music award show, ‘Ghoemas.’  Whether it’s providing production, remixes or scratches for  artists like YOUNGSTACPT, Proverb, Hemelbesem, Early B, Zubz he has become a sought after collaborator with expanding his scope with other music genres beside Hip Hop.

Currently he is also running an NGO with DJ Eazy, HHESA (Hip Hop Education South Africa) that’s been responsible for various international cultural exchanges since 2008 & various school projects in Cape Town with a strong emphasis on youth development using Hip Hop culture.

Musikalische Sozialisierung durch Platten und Demotapes Sammlung des älteren Bruders in der zweiten hälfte der 80er. Punk, Heavy und Death Metal aber auch Liedermacher Rock`n`Roll und Blues Legenden. Erste eigene Erkundschaftungen führten dann zu House, Techno und vorallem Rap Musik insbesondere Deutschprachiger die schnell zur Obzessiven Sammel leidenschaft hinzukamen. Breakbeat/Bigbeat/Trip-Hop, Drum`n`Bass, Industrial, Dancehall, Soul&R&B folgen später sukzessive. Mainstream Pop hat natürlich inherent und immanent die gesamten Phasen mehr oder weniger begleitet und teils als brücke zur überwindung von grenzen fungiert. Björk, Jamiroquai, Red hot chili Peppers, Elton John, Madonna seien exemplarisch beispielhaft erwähnt. Grunge und Punk Wellen der 90er Nirvana, Green Day, The offspring begleiteten den wunsch einer eigenen Band und die ersten versuche welche jedoch nie mehr als diese bleiben sollten. Der erste eigene Computer mit dem magix music Maker 1.0 sollte alles ändern. TBC
