First time I have covered a Kinks song. Celluloid Heroes is such an iconic track and beautifully written by none other than Ray Davies. Hope I done the song justice.

After the success of my first cover of the Kinks with Celluloid Heroes, I have decided to take on the legendary track Sunny Afternoon as this compliments my voice and singing style. I hope that I have done the song justice and that you all enjoy listening to it.

Indeed, we are living in a Cosmic Drama. This is even more relevant than when it was originally released by the brilliant Ray Davies and The Kinks in 1972. This is a no frills rendition, piano and vocal played live at the same time with one mic in the room. Proof that a great composition doesn't need more than profound lyrics, melody, and chord progression.

Bill Shanley is a guitarist from Clonakilty, West Cork, who has played and made music with, among others, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Ray Davies, Mary Black, Eleanor McEvoy, and Paul Brady. He got lessons with Noel Redding of the Jimi Hendrix Experience as a youngster and ever since has had a fascinating career. We talk though as much of that career as we can - spoiler alert: it features the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony - in this interview recorded at Clonakilty International Guitar Festival 2023.
