When does a filmmaker become a brand?

That's what the Film School Janitors (try to) discuss while reviewing Christopher Landon's latest, DROP, as well as RECYCLE REVIEWING M. Night Shyamalan's TRAP.

Besides both having four-letter titles with two of the same letters in the same spots, there are some structural and tonal similarities. Not too many, though, otherwise this wouldn't be MIXING BLEACH AND AMMONIA.

The comeback of the year!? No, not Serum... ReCycle is back, more than 30 years after its initial release - and it's free! 

To celebrate this occasion Reason Studios engaged Don Cannon to host a beat challenge, with no rules at all! Well, almost: they gave you one short drum beat to use/slice/transform/whatever... apart from that: nada! Do as you please! 

Well, please some more rules next time!? You could make a metalcore banger and only use the beat as a super short break, or make a two hours long bombastic symphonic Hans Zimmer piece, and only use parts of the beat for a percussion part... and so far there have been quite a wide variety of entries... how to judge that???

It's also wunschmaschine's epic comeback! Took some (uploading) timeout after my Artist Pro subscription ran out to see what would happen.... well: nada, nothing! Nobody noticed, not even soundcloud: didn't lift a finger to win me back. No offers, nothing... and not a single holiday sale or anything. Heck, they also missed the opportunity to use this competition for marketing effects. Seems they're marketing skills are even worse than mine!

Whatever... made a full track based on this beat, hope somebody likes, Don Cannon maybe? :P Well, maybe not... maybe you? I even made "recycling" the central theme of the lyrics, of the cover art. I sliced the beat, transformed it, reversed it etc. but tried to honour its stylistic nature... and it's clearly the basis, the central piece of the track. Whatever...

I finally called this track "ReGroove", because components of the original project are used in 4 other songs I released in 2023 and 2024.

Biography:

I got into DJing through my interest in techno music initially in the early 90s when techno was becoming more and more established in the clubs! At that time especially at private parties with and 
at friends, my great interest and enthusiasm for DJing arose through the confrontation between turntable and mixer that arose here and there and thus also my interest in producing music or DJing.
I try to modernize and reflect the dark bunker sound of today's popular club sounds. The techno direction I produce is a bassfull and at the same time driving techno sound with interesting dark melodies and sounds and
underlaid with suitable effect sounds. My selection of songs that I use for my podcasts are techno songs that I have listened to, made a selection 
and what I like about it in terms of taste, of course based on the common and hip club beats and sounds. After a long break, the goal is to reestablish myself in the scene with good sets and sounds. The aim would also be to have contacts 
and opportunities again through our own increasing polarity in order to
perhaps support and further help and promote younger talents more easily, but I will never really stop mixing or producing music myself, only the
performances will improve over the years will definitely be less. 
But definitely not now!!!!!!....... hopefully there will be many more musicthings and joint projects with other colleagues, which I'm really looking forward too! Thank you very much for listening and to be honest I'm just overwhelmed by how many really like my music and recommend me to others! Really drives you, does you good and I'll definitely keep doing it for you Safe

INFO: Middle aged music maker (and recreational drummer) from the middle of Franconian nowhere arranging music for open minded music lovers who (like me) don't want to listen to the same (kind of) music all/every day - way too boring (or even annoying).

So you'll find all kinds of stuff here, from Space Jazz to Hip Hop, from Synthpop to Triphop, from Folk to Doom, from here to there, from then to now, and many things in between - except for "pure" EDM / Techno / Trance, not my cup of tea. :P 

Many tracks tend towards "alternative pop". Well, if you don't like a song/genre - just skip it! I won't mind...  ;)

P.S.: Before you ask: I (almost) never start with the vocals, asking myself: what strange things could I make with those?

Instead I start making strange music THEN look for some vocal parts that might fit. You'd be surprised how often you get a "match" the moment you throw those in the mix. Well, sometimes it needs a little tweaking... ;)
