The night was young but it already seemed ever so frantic and free in the club. It was as if they had already been there for hours as they danced and moved between the flickering lights as smoke began to fill the air. From the corner of his eye he watched as fellow dancers and revellers continued to file down the stairs and into the murky abyss below.

Perhaps this was his favourite time of the night? The quiet calm before the storm – the music loud but not yet punishing, the pace moody and slow in time with his swaying hips.

He watched as the world beneath became busier and one by one the people came and went. This was a special place, that much was true. Perhaps 10-11 was the best time of all?

Redstone Press continue in the pursuit of leftfield Bass music and harder sounds – the next EP on the label coming from Tano and featuring remixes by the likes of Toumba and Delay Grounds. This one features off piste rhythms and percussion – keeping the energy flowing in the best and weirdest of ways.

For their ninth release, Redstone Press welcomes Tano to the roster, accompanied by remixes from Toumba & Delay Grounds. Having all embarked on making music around the same time and connecting through sharing said music, it felt only fitting to bring them together for this release.

Drawing inspiration from Room two at Freerotation, Tano’s “10-11 EP” channels a slow-burning energy and gradually intensifies into an exhilarating frenzy. The EP's title track sets the stage with meticulously crafted subs and kicks, building anticipation for the explosive main bass hook. The driving drums and metallic guttural utterings heighten the sense of apocalyptic drama that unfolds throughout. Take heed, this one is primed and ready for the system!

Toumba masterfully takes the essence of "10-11" and flips it on its head while preserving the raw, untamed energy of the original. Clocking in at 90 BPM, the remix maintains a steady canter, employing syncopated and percussive rhythms, along with rolling and bubbling sub-bass stabs. Elements from the source material are flawlessly incorporated, showcasing Toumba's distinctive style and exceptional ear for intricate drum patterns, all leading towards an inevitable pressure release.

In "Blend Of Poetry," Tano showcases his prowess for crafting off-kilter basslines and captivating synth melodies. Originally intended as a B-side for "10-11," this track stands confidently on its own. It weaves together a barrage of rapid-fire percussion, languid and hypnotic sub-bass and gripping atmospheric elements, resulting in a compelling and electrifying late-night joyride.

Delay Grounds' remix of "Blend of Poetry" closes out the EP, taking it to new stratospheric heights. Elemental staccato synths hover above expertly balanced drums and bass, reaching a fever pitch of ecstatic euphoria. Through the subtle introduction of airy percussion, the track culminates in a classic, tranced-out breakdown adorned with bright luminescent horns and pulsating sub-bass.

He wandered between the people and the places, the faces and the strangers, the dancers and the wanderers lost within the midst of the night. For they too had lost their grip. We all had really, the world was a big buttery pool within which we all swam beneath the cloak of darkness.

London-based producer Gesture delivers a dynamic display of mutated breaks and beat wizardry on "Check Sum" the 12th release from Redstone Press. Pseudopolis rounds off the four-track EP with an acid-drenched, free-party reminiscing remix.

On "Check Sum", Gesture channels weighty, distorted bass hits, wobbly breakbeats, and tense, hazy pads into a dark sonic offering. Wonky, textured atmospherics drift in, while ghostly Hip Hop and R&B vocal fragments weave in and out. "Grizzlin" introduces echoing dub vocals, skeletal breaks, and blurry organs before diving into a melting pot of spiraling amens, pummeling subs, and aquatic percussive elements. On "PH0L8" Gesture maintains the relentless breakbeat template, adding reverb-soaked 303s, mind-altering breakdowns, and plunging bass drops to create a rich, hypnotic soundscape. From the deep landscapes of the Scottish Highlands to the thriving bustling centre of Glasgow’s electronic music scene, Lewis Lowe’s journey in music has been one of reconnection. As co-founder behind Redstone Press, the label he co-founded with lifelong friend Ethan Harfield (aka Pseudopolis) in 2017, Lowe has steadily been carving out a space for Scottish talent within the broader spectrum of UK dance music. First bonding in primary school, the pair lost touch for several years only to reconnect as teenagers whilst partying at some free parties in the Highlands.  This rekindled friendship evolved into what is Redstone Press today, with the pair launching the label as a platform to release Ethan’s music and to champion other homegrown artists. Over the past six years, Redstone Press has continued to grow into a respected imprint, releasing a mix of muscular broken-beat techno and industrial steppers to more longform reflective club excursions. With recent releases from the likes of Tammo Hesselink, Gesture, and Tano the label has taken its forward-thinking ethos of blending intricate rhythms with raw, emotive energy to the next level.

Redstone Press uncorks another anomaly with the latest offering from First Epoque – The Antonelli Scrolls; an expansive four-track EP of riddled percussive tension and mythic resonance. A relic from an unknown era, like finding a USB stick inside a fossil. Precision-tooled dread, dubbed through unknowable years.

“To The Sea” opens like an ancient machine rebooting underwater — initiated by tidal sub-pressure and log-drum basslines, while rusted pads coalesce like liquid metal in the water. Each sound feels scrubbed of excess, chiselled to bone. It’s ritualistic techno, stripped back and hollowed out, possessed by half-remembered visions of Atlantis.

“Al-Tarif” follows with sharpened urgency — syncopated low-end funk coiled inside a lattice of unstable percussion. An encrypted script traced in stuttering kicks, cavernous bass drops and vapour-trailed synths; its structure feels less composed than summoned. The rhythm moves like a ritual procession: reverent and deliberate. Each percussive accent lands like a glyph etched into ancient stone.

“WRONGMANOEUVRE” — a misstep in the timeline, or a doorway left ajar. The track opens in disarray: detuned pads flicker like emergency lighting in a decompression chamber, while subaquatic kick-drums stutter and buckle under their own weight. The groove is broken but determined, dragging itself forward with a sense of mechanical dread.

Final transmission “Époque No. 25” hits like a rupture in the temple wall — a burst of high-velocity techno carved from scorched circuitry and panic-coded rhythm. It barrels upwards with relentless thrust. There’s no refuge here — only pursuit, propulsion. An overwhelming sense that something unknowable is closing in.

There’s no overt genre allegiance on The Antonelli Scrolls — just the steady unravelling of linear time. One for the initiates. Not easily explained. Not meant to be.

Town was packed and crowded, the traffic was a riot.

Everywhere it seemed as though lights flickered and flashed – glimmering and dancing against a backdrop of black, helping to make pretend that there was some sort of light or hope left in the city.
