Ellvee + Ozee - Bite

When I started this song I seriously didn't think it would take longer than a year. For context, I started this song before my remix of Quartzone's Dance Of The Volcano Lady, having the bridge and outro done. In that remix I learned the basics of tearout bass design, specifically how to make them really percussive. I took that to the limits with this song, AND set a goal to make a song with 3 distinctly different call and response style drops.

After I started this song, I came up with different concepts and eventually an EP/LP idea started forming, and I wrote down different ideas for each song. This is the only one done, and I will probably release them one at a time and release songs in between so this doesnt lie dormant for years again. 

The main show of this song is the many percussive basses and the mass amounts of instrument instances I have in here, nearly tripling my previous highest amount at 308. Each bass is layered with a textured sample I found on splice to make them unique, while also using multiple different color bass techniques. I also tried to focus on writing my piano sections a little more uniquely, and came up with a different bridge and ending.

While this song is an homage to one of my favorite games, rain world, it isn't a direct inspiration. While I won't get into the naming conventions and what I did too much, I will say that I took the theme of "reincarnation" and applied many callbacks to other parts of the song and even older songs of mine. For a blatant example, right after the intro vocals, once the drums are introduced, a soft lead and some background plucks play the two melodies that play during the final drop.

Overall, this was a blast to make, and I never thought it would take this long to make. I can't wait to start on the other songs, since I started writing them six months after I started this one, so the music theory and quality is a little better. The song is in f# minor, and the chords are f#m7, f#m add9, f#m add11 - Dmaj7 - E add11, E sus2 add11 - f#m7, f#m add11, f#m add9 - D6 - E add9, E7 sus2 (or a i - VI - VII, to put it simply.)
