My name is Vince Reid, and for decades, I have navigated the music industry as an independent artist, producer, and label owner. My journey, as a man of color and a member of the LGB+ community, has uniquely shaped my mission: to create accessible, authentic pathways for artists.

My experience spans from the industry's highest levels to its grassroots. I’ve had direct conversations with major figures, from the late producer Frank Farian to the legendary Morris Levy. These interactions, particularly during pivotal moments like the Milli Vanilli era, gave me a clear-eyed view of the business's complexities and gatekeepers.

Driven by a lifelong passion that began with sending out demo tapes at age 12, I grew weary of rejection and exclusionary practices. In response, I founded my own record label with a completely open-door policy, eliminating the traditional gauntlets artists must run to be heard.

This philosophy extends to my work with acts like Box 7, a producer collective I auditioned in Manhattan. My core requirement has always been talent and authenticity—whether that’s singing, playing an instrument, or songwriting. My own creative process is fluid and hands-on, embracing modern tools like loops, computers, and voice modulators to produce work that is genuine and reflective of my evolving perspective. We use technology as an instrument, not a replacement for human creativity; we do not sell AI music.

GongoKal Studios is an independent creative lab. We design custom music for individual ! We produce too concept-driven albums across electronic, hip-hop and alternative rock territories.
We create tracks and albums using AI tools and my personal experience.

Built on tension, rhythm and narrative cohesion, each project explores contrast — machine and instinct, structure and chaos, precision and raw energy.

A guitarist for nearly 30 years, I founded the punk rock band Keyjane.

I also created the startup Sounderbox, which allowed individuals to play music in public spaces and organize music battles. 

In addition, I'm a DJ called GongoKal, specializing in tropical, African, Caribbean, and South American music.
