“The Privileged Martyr” is an unapologetic return from Cellus Hamilton — his first release since Valentine’s Day — produced alongside Chicago’s own Von Vuai. Built on a soulful sample of SWV’s “Rain,” the track blends tenderness and tension, grief and defiance. Written in the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Hamilton wrestles with how language, power, and pain collide in public and private faith.
The song doesn’t hand out answers — it asks dangerous questions. It exposes how words once meant to honor sacrifice can become distorted, co-opted, or weaponized. Over shimmering chords and melancholy drums, Cellus delivers a performance that feels like a lament, a warning, and a mirror all at once.
Raw, poetic, and layered with meaning, “The Privileged Martyr” dares listeners to confront what we call suffering, who gets to define it, and what it costs to tell the truth in an age of privilege and persecution.

Title references Ekko Astral's 2024 album "pink balloons" which balanced humor with serious trans liberation themes. This song captures that energy—proving "the revolution can be fun" while addressing deadly serious issues. Verses juxtapose joy and survival: trans kids playing in parks with legislation trying to erase them; queer couples dancing at Pride while 84 injuries and 10 deaths from violent attacks in just one year; glaad drag performers bringing art and beauty while fighting drag bans in multiple states. The dynamic shifts between pop-punk brightness and hardcore fury mirror the emotional whiplash of existing as LGBTQ+ in 2025. Chorus: "Pink balloons and Molotov cocktails / Dancing through the apocalypse / They want us dead, we want to live / So we're throwing both—beauty and bricks." References actual victories: 92% of anti-LGBTQ bills defeated in 2025, aclu drag bans ruled unconstitutional, the resilience of communities building mutual aid networks. Bridge is tender—a love song between partners promising to survive together.

Pink Balloons and Molotov Cocktails

Raging against wealth inequality. Opens with the statistic: The world is on track for 5 trillionaires within a decade while 733 million people lack sufficient calories globally. Verses detail the obscenity: Billionaire wealth grew $2 trillion in 2024 ($5.7 billion per day), Wall Street bonuses hit $47.5 billion, the top 10% own 67% of wealth while the bottom 50% own 2.5%. Oxfam GBWorld Socialist Web Site Meanwhile, 13.4% of children live in poverty, child poverty more than doubled after the expanded Child Tax Credit expired, Black children experience poverty at three times the rate of white children. Heavy, aggressive rap verses with screamed chorus: "FIVE TRILLIONAIRES! While we can't pay rent! / FIVE TRILLIONAIRES! Our wages ain't been spent! / From the bottom to the top, there's a class war / And they're winning it while we're dying poor!" References the June 2024 Kenya protests where youth rose up against tax bills targeting the poorest; Bangladesh where 400+ students were killed protesting job quotas. Human Rights Watch Bridge lists the names: Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg—and asks "What do we do with the enemies of humanity?" Leaves the question hanging ominously.

Five Trillionaires

Opens the album with the GLAAD statistic: 932 anti-LGBTQ incidents in one year, 2.5 per day. But the song expands to show this is part of a larger pattern—575 anti-LGBTQ bills, aclu 27 states banning gender-affirming care, aclu 13.4% of children in poverty, Firstfocus 271,500 workers on strike. The chorus chants: "An injury to one is an injury to all / They're coming for us, they're coming for all / No left and right, just have and have not / 932 days till we tear this whole thing apart." References the Gender Liberation March linking trans rights and abortion rights, the intersectionality between all struggles. The 19th News Sets the urgent, angry, but hopeful tone.

932 Days

A defiant liberation anthem directly inspired by 2024-2025 trans rights protests. Fast, aggressive verses detail the attacks (Trump executive orders, Puerto Rico's ban, the violence documented by GLAAD) Wikipedia +2 contrasted with a massive, singable chorus using actual protest chants: "We're here, we're trans, get used to it!" and "Trans rights are human rights!" References the Transgender Day of Visibility marches across dozens of cities. Newsweek Bridge slows down for spoken-word testimonial about a tra ns kid just trying to exist, then explodes back into fury. Celebrates trans joy as resistance while acknowledging the life-threatening reality.

Last year, while people reacted to the results of the election, I released this song describing the corruption of this country and its complicity with the rogue Z*on*st pariah state.

I wrote the last verse of this song, the one you're hearing on this post, on October 13, 2023 — 6 days after this g3n0c*d@| war began. The rest were written sporadically over the course of the past ~2 years of horror. As l've seen so many people ignore and remain silent about what has been unfolding before our eyes, I could not bear to do the same.

As an artist, it is imperative for me to use my voice to disseminate truth and information that our media and government intentionally suppresses and distorts. I truly hope you take the time to give it a listen.
