Ernie Leece recalls his time working at White City in the late 1950s into the early 1960s.
He began on nights at the speedway track, where he would get slight electric shocks from the floor on wet days. But he soon graduated to full-time with various duties, including regular inspection of the roller-coaster (though they never were too sure what they were supposed to be looking for!).
A favourite trick of his and friends was to ride the roller-coaster but grab onto a bar and leap out of the ride before the end...!

The roller-coaster of a week it was. As Lenin said, "There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen” - that is what happened last week on a personal front and to all of us together as a collective shared experience with the air-strikes.
