Maxwell Air Force base was a rarity in 1940’s Alabama. That’s because it was one of the first places in the state to become integrated. Civil Rights Icon Rosa Parks worked on the Air Force Base in the 1940s before playing a central role in the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955.

Based on a true story, with legislation by Missouri Rep Bill Clay Jr. who introduced  a resolution to rename a portion of a highway outside St Louis after a civil rights icon.  This caused the KKK, who'd applied and been accepted to the "Adopt-a-Highway" program to refuse to continue cleaning the highway they "adopted", resulting in their sign being taken down.
