Born out of the renowned, best-selling Yin : Yang label concept, musical discourse is brought to life through the meticulous choices of Tripp Baronner – DJ, curator and full-time member of the Proton team. Presenting “Dialectics,” a monthly show airs on Proton Radio and DI.fm showcasing the finest underground music talent in two contrasting but inextricably linked hours.

Part 1 sees Yin thematically represented while Yang is juxtaposed through Part 2. Intimately interconnected while fluid by design, resident hosts alternate and interchange with guest artists to create a dynamic dialectical discourse.

Another episode of the series where I explore different layers of Melodic House & Techno. Sometimes more House, sometimes more Techno, always with context and a story to tell.

This time I’m telling a different story, one that only reveals itself to those who stay until the end. A manifesto about how patience can be rewarding. Lots of groove, intense melodies, and moments of reflection, featuring tracks from some of the labels I admire most and other happy discoveries.

This isn’t just another random set — one and a half hours of music to make you imagine yourself on the dancefloor, eyes closed, feeling impossible to stay still.

After all, whether on the dancefloor, with headphones, or in the car, we’ll always find an excuse to dance.

BIOGRAPHY

A true pioneer of Istanbul’s electronic music scene, Alican has been a driving force behind its growth for nearly two decades. As a DJ, producer, and co-founder of Isolate — a respected record label and event series — he’s known for crafting emotionally rich, hypnotic sets and productions that connect deeply with listeners. His music has been released on labels such as Innervisions, ISOLATE, Kompakt, Get Physical, Bedrock Records, DESSERT, Multinotes and more while his performances have taken him to clubs and festivals across Europe, from Amsterdam to Ibiza. 

Around 2016, Alican invested his spare time into launching an event series with his friends called Isolate. Initially taking place at Indigo, before moving to other locations, the party gave him the opportunity to showcase artists that represented his ethos. As all good things do, Indigo began to peter out, but the end of the club marked the beginning of a new era and Isolate blossomed, gaining traction as an events outfit before evolving into a record label in 2018. 

Humble, passionate, and endlessly dedicated, he continues to shape the sound of Turkey’s underground while staying true to his roots and the music that inspired him from the start.

Yin and Yang (n.) - the concept of duality forming a whole. A fundamental premise in Chinese philosophy now transposed to the electronic dance industry through the creation of Proton "Editions". Through encyclopaedic knowledge of the 4,000+ strong Proton roster of labels Tripp Baronner has envisioned a new concept of the principle of seemingly polar opposites, coming together as interconnected and independent universal forces - life and death, the dark and the light: one complete entity. 

From a passion for underground progressive house at opposite ends of the audio spectrum - the deep, shadowy atmospheres to the blissful, shimmering melodies, "Yin" and "Yang" were born in an effort to represent this phenomenon in musical form. Each release will provide a single remix of an existing Proton roster track for two inextricably linked labels in the form of a light (Yang) and dark (Yin) edition. Released on the same day, a strong contrast in styles will thus serve to complement each other and nourish the whole.

Profound Sessions has been born out of the love of quality deeper tracks full of smooth grooves, slo-mo beats and deep bubbly bass.
Each week will feature a mix from either resident Craig Turner or a featured DJ guest. Could be a well known DJ, producer/remixer or a reletively unkown artist that deserves to be heard. One thing that will be guaranteed is the quality of both the tunes and the mix.
