We are in week 8 of our exploration of Ecclesiastes, as reverend Jackie Parks draws us through chapter 9:13-18 and confronts us with one of life's most uncomfortable truths: wisdom doesn't always lead to worldly success. Jackie draws us in to encounter the story of a poor, wise man who saves an entire city from a powerful king, only to be forgotten and despised. It's the ultimate letdown for our success-driven hearts. We want the underdog story to end with fame, influence, and lasting recognition. Instead, we're left wrestling with the absurdity of a hero whose wisdom worked but whose name vanished into obscurity. This passage strips away our transactional view of God—the idea that if we follow His ways, we'll be rewarded with prosperity, recognition, and measurable success. It challenges us to ask: Are we pursuing wisdom because it 'works' in getting us what we want, or because it's the way God created us to flourish? The message points us toward Christ, the ultimate embodiment of wisdom who was despised and rejected, yet through whom true victory came. We're invited to embrace a radical reorientation: wisdom isn't about future success but present faithfulness. It's not about fame but fruit. Living wisely means becoming more fully human in Christ, cultivating joy and faithfulness regardless of circumstances, and trusting that God's ways are worth following even when the world around us seems to reward foolishness.

I was inspired to write this song as a tribute to Alec Penstone, the 100 year old WW2 Royal Navy veteran who, in a TV interview around the time of Remembrance Day, said he didn't think that the sacrifice of so many of the Nation's military personnel in WW2 was worth it. To quote his words, "The country of today? No, I'm sorry. The sacrifice wasn't worth the result that it is now. What we fought for was our freedom, and even now, it's a darn sight worse than what it was when I fought for it." Sobering and sad words from one of our brave and courageous military veterans...

This sermon passionately explores the multifaceted significance of the cross, framing it through three primary messages: the love of God, the wisdom of God, and the power of God. The text emphasizes that the cross is the ultimate display of divine love, asserting that Christianity is a "love story written in blood" where Christ sacrificed himself not only for friends but also for enemies, taking on humanity’s sin and curse to offer righteousness and peace. Furthermore, the wisdom of God is manifested in the cross's transformation from a symbol of shame, Roman tyranny, and fear into a sign of hope, comfort, and mercy. "DA' Black Sheep" Dan Acosta is the epitome of the "Do It Yourself" (DIY) artist/performer. With many years of touring and performing experience, he has been paying his dues and pouring his blood, sweat, and sometimes tears, into his Performances, Record Label, Multimedia Business (GDA Media Group, LLC), and his many other passions (Songwriting, Graphic Design, Photography, and Professional Wrestling). He is always involved in the local community, taking part in numerous charity events every year. Anyone who knows "The Red & Black" knows that DA' Black Sheep is one of the most dedicated, hard-working performers around. 

With catchy hooks and a simple "in your face" approach to his music, Dan’s songwriting keeps things pure and simple, while tugging on the human heart to make his songs unforgettable to his listeners. He writes from his own life experiences and tries to relate to each fan through every song - sharing his true feelings and perspectives with them. Across the board, you can feel the emotion and sincerity showcased by his strong songwriting abilities, and his passionate vocal deliveries. Dan also set out to live another one of his childhood dreams, brought about through his dedication to his music - professional wrestling. In March of 2012, he began training to become a professional wrestler, with a school called RingSide Pro-Wrestling, and really solidified himself as "DA' Black Sheep" in the ring as well, using that as his wrestling name - he based his in-ring persona as an extension of who he is, making it more "over-the-top" as his character & gimmick. It all began with Dan writing entrance theme music for some wrestlers he had become friends with most notably former Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Mikey Whipwreck. Whipwreck used Dan's music all throughout the local Indy leagues when he wrestled with a clique known as "The Order Of The Black", along with Dan's other friends, Jeff "Rocky" Hahn (formerly known as "Bad Boy Rocky Shore in WWE), and Louie Fabiano (formerly known as "The NY Brawler" & "Sheik Mohamed Hussein" in WWE & WCW, as well as in Puerto Rico and worldwide), who use another one of Dan's songs when they wrestle for East Coast Pro Wrestling (ECPW), a company Dan himself wrestled for for 12+ years on the East Coast circuit. That opportunity is how Dan was able to segue into the world of professional wrestling and start training under the tutelage of Jeff Hahn. 

As you can see, "DA' Black Sheep" has his hands into just about every aspect of entertainment. He made the leap into "reality television" work, as well as on "the big screen" in movies, television, and he's always looking for new & exciting opportunities. Orange Is The New Black, Ink Master (several episodes & seasons), Ink Master Redemption, Impractical Jokers, Cymbeline (movie), Blue Bloods (TV Series)... the list just keeps growing.

Olivier Noël, aka "n o x V Λ n d e r s", is a Franco-Cameroonian DJ and producer who has explored various musical genres since the 90s. He took his first steps in Switzerland, in Basel, under the name "Blackangel", where he made crowds vibrate during wild raves, particularly in abandoned factories of the Swiss food company "Le Bell."

In the 2000s, he moved towards more accessible sounds, exploring electro house under the alias "DJ Coolfun", not hesitating to flirt with what he himself calls "commercial soup." Three of his sets from that time can still be heard on SoundCloud (@dj-coolfun) and on edeejay.com (www.edeejay.com/profile-125718/video/).

But it was in 2012 that he fully immersed himself in the depths of progressive trance, refining his approach to mesmerizing sounds.

In 2015, Olivier made a radical shift towards drumstep under the alias "Skyloox" and dubstep by changing his alias to "OnBass 1978", mastering powerful drops and shattering rhythms. During this period, he left an indelible mark in Lorraine, mixing for various events and radio stations, including the iconic Radio-Déclic FM in Moselle. His explosive sets from that time can still be listened to on Mixcloud (www.mixcloud.com/OnBass/).

Always seeking evolution, Olivier returned to trance in 2020 under the alias "Oliver Chrisma5" (www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFzQr9gGdFQ), before diving headfirst, in 2024, into the retro-futuristic sounds of Synthwave, Vaporwave, and Chillwave.

Today, under the identity of "n o x V Λ n d e r s", he explores linear and mesmerizing soundscapes, blending melodies that are sometimes dark, sometimes bright. While respecting the unique codes of Synthwave, he allows himself to venture into other genres, notably dub and electro, while staying true to his vaporous and melodious atmospheres. Each production is an invitation to travel through time and space, a true musical journey back to the future.

His inspirations draw from the work of artists such as Daft Punk, Skrillex, Tiesto, Deadmau5, DJ Snake, Seven Lions, and Kavinsky. Additionally, he draws from pioneers of electronic music like Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Vangelis, as well as modern Synthwave and Vaporwave artists such as The Midnight, Mitch Murder, Timecop1983, and Com Truise.

I sing and play my own songs and as a seasoned musician, I have performed regularly over time in bands, in a trio and as part of a duo. I have also performed as a solo artist. These days I am content to hear my songs on Deepstuff Radio, and on a number of other radio stations here and abroad. But that performing bug never goes away!!

"Pictureplane"(Travis Egedy), is a popular artist known for making his come up in the electronic music scene, DIY Venues, also popular for hanging around artists like "Grimes" and "Crystal Castles" in the early come up days of these artist, he is also the one who came up with the word "Witch House" which is a playful word on "House" music, though "Witch House" is now a popular music genre that is enjoyed by many.

"Crystal Castles" are actually one of the very first, if not the first electronic music duo to actually invent "Witch House" music, as you can hear dark beats and sorrow drawn out voices off of some of their early (demo songs/ Demo Album) dating back from "2007" and before that, which is crazy to think since during that time "Witch House" did not have a name for itself yet.
