Imagine walking under cherry blossoms in spring. Petals drifting, a gentle breeze, and in your hand, a skewer with three little dumplings. Pink, white, green, still warm from the fire. This is hanami dango. 
Meanwhile, in a small shop, someone unwraps a soft, pastel mochi ball. Inside, sweet red bean paste. Smooth, dense, comforting. This is daifuku.
Two sweets. One chewy and communal, the other soft and solitary. Both were born from rice, ritual, and centuries of celebration.🍡

千の死 or Sen no Shi means 1000 Deaths in Japanese. It is a description of the mono no aware or pathos of things as they transition, like as the world goes from overflowing with greenery and life of spring and summer to the cold starkness of autumn and winter.

難しいです (Muzukashii Desu)” is a song about cross-cultureal romance — a gentle J-pop story about a Japanese girl dating an American English teacher. She keeps giving the polite Japanese refusal “難しいです” (“That will be difficult”), but he doesn’t get the nuance… and keeps trying.

Soft acoustic J-pop, sweet vocals, bilingual moments, and a very real cross-cultural misunderstanding wrapped in cherry blossoms.
