A Classic Hit, Reimagined with 50s Nostalgia

In the 1950s, many hit songs were well less than 3 minutes, making them perfect for radio play. OMGG Band has faithfully recreated this tradition with their mixed lyrics version of "Sherry" keeping it concise, heartfelt, and true to the golden era of rock 'n' roll.

"Sherry," originally made famous by The Four Seasons, is known for its high-falsetto vocals and early rock energy. But what if this classic had been imagined differently?

OMGG Band’s version transforms it into a dreamy, slow-dance ballad, inspired by the timeless doo-wop sound of "Earth Angel" by The Starlighters. Gone are the soaring falsettos—replaced with a warm, intimate performance that captures the romance of 1950s dance halls and jukebox nostalgia.

Vocals by OMGG Band’s own Gigi, delivering a heartfelt, vintage-style performance.

Featuring a smooth saxophone solo and electric guitar lead to enhance the classic 50s romance.
Vintage-style sound mixing by Studio 740 in Helsinki, keeping it slightly raw to give a sense of time’s effect on the recording.

We didn’t aim for an overly polished studio sound, instead choosing to preserve a natural, slightly rough feel—as if this track had been played over the years, carrying with it the warmth and charm of the era it belongs to.

My debut album Divvy Up is available now!

Hailing from Transylvania, alto saxophonist Florin Clonta lives and performs in Canada.

I’m a keyboardist who unfortunately has developed arthritis in my hands so I’m not as accurate as I used to be.

But needless to say, my main tool for composing is still a keyboard or the keys of my MacBook Pro.

I find writing lyrics to be the easiest first task.  From there the music follows.

My son recently introduced me to A.I. and taught me how to do covers of my previously released music. While this is fun to see how your original music sounds in different styles and voices, I can see how it can stifle creativity.  Plus you can’t go on concert with an A.I. cover.  A.I. basically relegates you to a song-writer, but not a performer.

I don’t see any problems using A.I. as a tool.  It’s here to stay.  But recommend proving yourself first as a  composer and/or lyricist before using it.  Plus, in my mind,  it’s more fun to come up with your own works first even leaving out canned loops when you do it.

I've lived more than a quarter of my life overseas (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan). Each country gave me an appreciation for different types of music plus probably why I get bored easily in sticking with one genre or another.

Yung Gani, based in Thessaloniki, Greece is a multidisciplinary artist. Over fifteen years, he's evolved from a musician and saxophonist to a singer,rapper and producer. His work combines socially and psychologically charged lyrics with a mix of Drill, Trap, R&B beats and Jazz, Soul and Pop notes, resulting in a unique and rebellious artistic style.

Over the course of a year, Yung Gani released five singles, notably Lastixa alongside his album and an EP featuring collaborations with artists like AL Armed, Silent, vantablack and BludMoney. He also contributed to the creation of Ta Panta Gkri with the musical collective Schematik, showcasing his diverse musical talents and collaborative spirit.

Yung Gani positions himself as a comprehensive artist with a primary objective of harmonizing various music genres and bridging musical disparities. His creative pursuit involves seamlessly blending diverse musical styles, aiming to create a unified and eclectic musical experience.
