Be Warned is a darker, heavier track produced in Long Beach, California around 2004–2005, when our crew was playing shows all across Southern California. At that point, Gutter Water Music had two DJs — myself (DJ Zero One) and DJ Zoo — and Zoo laid down the cuts on this one.

I built the beat in the early days of my messing with software production — probably Sonic Foundry Acid or maybe Ableton 1 or 2 — so it’s got a raw, underground feel. It’s gritty, unpolished, and captures exactly where we were at in the mid-2000s: hungry, experimenting, and bringing that underground hip-hop energy to live shows.

If you’re into dark sample-based beats, indie hip hop from the 2000s, and raw West Coast underground rap, this one belongs in your rotation.

Thank you for visiting my profile. I am a lifetime music junkie that began making beats in 2019. My weapon of choice is the Native Instruments Maschine MK3. Every track posted is a live recording without a DAW or automation. I come from a background of scratching records, so I feel a need to be hands on. All tracks were created in a freestyle manner without premeditation. Part of my process is to record what I have before ending the session. The tracks here are those session recordings.
