This should be a given for Berserk, but these chapters get dark, tragic, and disturbing. Sadly, it’s our beautiful, but flawed boy, Berk, himself, who is the perpetrator of this messed up stuff. But it’s not that simple! Much to discuss here as the Beast of Darkness begins to take its hold on old Gutsy, causing him to wrestle with (and largely lose against) his deepest desires…resulting in the simple minded, traumatized Casca to recoil from him as a villain for the foreseeable future.

The concept album was loosely based on the computer game Wizardry, by Andrew Greenberg and Robert Woodhead.
The software title was a huge and groundbreaking success on the Apple II in 1982.
The date of this song is an anomaly and suggests either a re-write or an estimation of when the original version was composed.
There is a note on the lyrics sheet that says 'Vostok's Song' - presumably one of the characters in the story.

Aftermath is an instrumental guitar piece that was written for the concept album.
Most of the music for the concept album was composed in the spring and early summer of 1983.
The lyrics for the concept album songs came later.
Some of the lyrics were written in the summer of '83 and more in the following months and years.
Aftermath was always planned to be instrumental.
George suspects that much of Aftermath was actually composed in 1983.
The sheet of paper with musical direction is dated 21st February 1987.
Besides the guitar, you can hear the EDP Wasp, and a portable radio tuned to the short wave, with George twiddling the dial.
The concept album was loosely based on the computer game Wizardry, by Andrew Greenberg and Robert Woodhead.

Schierke, baby!!! It's the official introduction of everyone's favorite little (and mega powerful) witch in training. Plus, Guts, Farnesse, Isidro, Serpico and the rest of the crew are forced to deal with an ever more "fairy tail-ish" world, fighting off vicious disgusting trolls, and adorable regenerating golems.

Trolls, The Witch, Mansion of the Spirit Tree Parts 1 and 2: (FALCON OF THE MILLENIUM EMPIRE ARC: THE HOLY EVIL WAR CHAPTER)

We're getting a beefy-ass lore bomb in these chapters thanks to our new witch friends Schierke and her mistress Flora! What is the astral realm...the interstice...the Godhand...and the nature of Griffith's newly reincarnated powers? All of this is discussed in semi-mindbending detail - plus, Guts's JRPG party gets kitted out with magical weapons and armor for the journey to take out horrific trolls for Morgan, the boring NPC from the previous episode. Enjoy!

Oh the trolls they are a cummin'! Uuuuuh, COMIN', I meant, of course... Either way, we get even more fantastical, existential, and occult in these chapters, with the badass of badasses, Schierke, invoking the lords of the east, west, north and south to protect Guts and crew (as well as the villagers and that a-hole priest!) while they take out this horde of nasties...that is, until a giant peepee shaped Ogre enters the scene and puts a wrench in their gears. Enjoy!

This lecture discusses key ideas from the 20th century American science fiction and fantasy author Poul Anderson's essay "Of Thud And Blunder", which begins by parodying a passage of swords and sorcery fantasy. While making exceptions for L. Sprague de Camp, Fritz Leiber, and J.R.R. Tolkein, Anderson criticizes many of the heroic, historical, or swords & sorcery fantasy fiction for engaging in bad storytelling. He charges them with oversimplifying, not engaging in needed research, and not devoting thought or common sense to their story writing. 

He discusses a number of different matters that a fantasy author should attend to, including: social classes and the lives of producers, the nature of pre-modern cities, diseases and sanitation, politics and religion, travel by land and water, and arms, armor, combat, and poisons.

Swordplay club in Northampton creates community through ancient weaponry
Twice weekly, First Churches of Northampton is filled with the sounds of clanging swords.

We support all independent musicians who are doing something we find interesting. Our team members all have formal music education qualifications.

We believe in helping others in the face of corrupt laws and a broken system. We are pro democracy, green energy and free speech.

We're politically liberal. We cannot support the republicans, maga or gun violence in the usa. We don't see there's any real difference, other than in name, between the christian far right in the USA and the taliban in Afghanistan.

In the uk we are broadly pro LibDem/Green/Labour/SNP. We are VERY anti-tory, bnp, ukip, and any of their friends and associates. We have no trust at all in the uk right wing press monopoly and the bbc. Beware the bbc and its claims of neutrality. It is the propaganda mouthpiece of the tory party. It even charges a propaganda tax called the licence fee. But we like Test Match Special and Radio 6, so does that make us hypocrites...? Hmm.

We support independence for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Cornwall. We support the individual and the underdog. We are anti-putin and his war, and pro-Ukraine.
