In deze meditatie gaan we oefenen in het ontwikkelen van Concentratie in de aanwezigheid van geluiden. 

(Noot vooraf: dit is een meditatie voor de gevorderde beoefening - er wordt geoefend met geluidsfragmenten, gericht om de concentratie te trainen in de aanwezigheid van afleiding).

Doel van concentratie is om de geest te trainen om gefocust te zijn en niet afgeleid te raken. En we raken zo vaak en snel afgeleid. Door een geluid van buiten. Door pijn of ongemak in ons lichaam. Door zorgen, gedachten en plannen. Door verveling, vermoeidheid, oordelen en veroordelingen.

Vaak leidt dit tot een gevoel van onrust en ongemak. En zo zijn we al heel ver verwijderd van dat wat we aan het doen zijn. Maar wat is concentratie dan? Waar ís onze concentratie? En wat hebben we nodig om geconcentreerd te blijven?

Is bijvoorbeeld stilte en de afwezigheid van geluid en afleiding een voorwaarde voor meditatieve concentratie? Of is dat juist de omgekeerde wereld? Want hoe kun je oefenen in concentratie als precies datgene wat training in concentratie mogelijk maakt - de afleiding - afwezig is? 

Daarom gaan we in deze meditatie oefenen met geluiden. In drie geluidsfragmenten - bonzende buren, blaffende honden en verkeerslawaai - mogen we oefenen in het ontwikkelen van opmerkzaamheid wat geluiden met onze geest doet. 

Zo kunnen we werkelijk oefenen in het ontwikkelen van het vermogen tot een open, warme en vriendelijke Concentratie in onze geest.

Earned my B.A. degree in Music from Western University (clarinet, 2005)
And certificate in Office Administration from Fanshawe College (2016).
At Fanshawe I also did one semester of Web Development in 2008 and one semester of Music Industry Arts in 2014.
After I earned my Music B.A., I continued at Western for a few years of part-time Psychology courses, but dropped out a few courses shy of earning a psychology degree, due to mental health issues and a kundalini awakening.

I am an advocate of musicians returning to 432 Hz, because it is an energetically healing sound frequency that if one is sensitive enough, can be felt within, especially through the heart chakra. I believe that the "cerebral" but discordant 440 Hz standard frequency of music is a cause of anxiety, overthinking, nervous system damage and chakra imbalances.
