The 'classic' Funkestra line-up features Boston saxophone virtuoso Tucker Antell on his composition ’Blood & Whiskey'. His energetic and fiery playing is the center of this sleazy slow groove tune. Recently the band was invited to play the Norman (Oklahoma) Jazz Festival in June 2026 and consequently are planning to tour through the US, incl. concerts & recordings in their favourite legendary recording studios, filmed by the Masterlink sessions team. This song will be part of the journey.

所属しているラジオドラマ制作団の、地元の地域振興事業にも選ばれた作品の主題歌およびＢＧＭを担当した時の、この曲は主題歌のインストアレンジです。
タイトルの「F」は「free」だったり「future」だったりの希望を託された一文字。
少し早歩きくらいのテンションあがるテンポ、メロティが下降系になってもストリングスやホーンセクションが上昇系で引っ張っていきまっせ！的な工夫など色々詰め込んだ一曲です。

こちらもSC-88Pro一本で作った曲ですが、間奏・後奏に出てくるサックスソロの高音域での不完全フラジオによるガリガリした音を再現してみましたがいかがでしょう？
この微妙な苦労が伝わると嬉しいです。


This is an instrumental arrangement of the theme song for a radio drama production company I belong to that was selected for a local community development project as the theme song and background music for that production.
The "F" in the title is a letter that represents hope, whether it's "free" or "future."
The tempo is like a slightly brisk walk, and even when the melody starts to descend, the strings and horn section keep on rising, pulling you along! This song is packed with various ideas like this.

This song was also made using only an SC-88Pro, but I tried to recreate the scratchy sound caused by an imperfect flageolet in the high range of the saxophone solo that appears in the interlude and postlude. What do you think?
I hope you can understand the delicate effort that went into this.

Recording for a long time over this mix of tracks was a unique, almost meditative experience. 🧘‍♀️🎶

I really like the atmosphere of these progressive house tracks, and I will try to do more long mixes in the future. 
The energy of the music matches my natural character and attitude, but I had to EQ the tracks to make space for the sax sound as they originally came quite full in the saxophone frequency spectrum.

In future similar projects, I think I will try to be a bit more thoughtful 🤔 and I will try to organize my playing differently in terms of how much melodic time, jazz soloing time, just leaving the track going, etc 🎶

Good job from the Gopro11 for recording auch a long time, I only had one glitch, but it is really not that visible 👍🎥

Good performance by the Nux b6 microphone for lasting 2 hours (could have been even more), although there are a few spots where you can hear the signal breaking down a little bit. I found out that wifi devices are really the issue (not bluetooth as I first believed). 👍
I switched everything off, and the signal came clean till the end 🎶

On Dr Hypenstein, Redtenbacher's Funkestra brings their danceable brand of funk, laying down 13 of their funkiest grooves yet, from the fluty can't-stop-your-feet sounds of the title track to the heavy crunch of "Swagger," then letting the atomic dogs out with "Cave Canem" and the percolating "Funktionality."

London-based bassist, composer, arranger and bandleader Stefan Redtenbacher is the mastermind behind Dr Hypenstein, which includes the bass-driven "Bass Face" and "Bassbulator," the dare-you-not-to-move "Right On It" and "Supergalactic," and expands on previous material to incorporate electronic sounds in all the while standing proud with the history of funk.

This is the eighth album from Redtenbacher's Funkestra, which regularly performs at (and packs) London's legendary 606 Club and other established London venues. Guest musicians have included Fred Wesley, Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis, "Doc" Kupka, Lee Thornburg and Lenny Pickett from Tower of Power, Eric Krasno of Soulive, Stanton Moore of Galactic and the horn sections from Prince, Incognito and The Brand New Heavies.

The Austrian-born Redtenbacher fell for Herbie Hancock and Maceo Parker early on, then studied at the Vienna Conservatory and Boston's Berklee College of Music, and has recorded and performed with legends including Steve Winwood, Jack Bruce, Amy Winehouse, Lulu, Mica Paris, and Herb Alpert.

John Tabacco is an American composer, singer songwriter, producer, recording engineer, multi instrumentalist and graphic artist. He has engineered /mixed and mastered music for hundreds of New York recording artists as well as projects released on BMG: The Kemelions, RCA: Faze, Rampage/Rhino: Rhett Forrester, Columbia: Rebbie Jackson, Rykodisc : Bob Marley, Columbia: Chris Jasper, Electra: Sonia Dada and Nickleodeon’s Are You Afraid Of The Dark? He is the CEO of It Iz What It Iz Music Publishing which currently holds over 750 songs in its catalog. He has been an associate producer for IndiMusic TV and hosts a bi-weekly radio program (CLAM RADIO) on college radio WUSB.fm since 1999. He is currently the head of A&R at Modern Voices Digital Distribution.

His musical background consists of extensive study of orchestration with noted 20th century composer John Lessard, harmony with the late electronic music maverick Bulent Arel, and composition with Stony Brook University professor Peter Winkler. He received his BA in Music from Stony Brook University in 1983. 

Like an unfolding musical diary / puzzle, Tabacco’s music and art are constantly being re-worked, juxtaposed and intertwined. His style is a melding of pop - jazz -rock - avant garde / aleatory, classical and comedy.  He has been recording his music non stop since 1979.

Of note: In 1989 the satirical, absurd house song "Go House Yourself" co-written by Tabacco, Pati and DiMauro reached position 39 on Billboard's dance chart. 

In 2014 Tabacco signed a record deal with Texas, indie label, Muffin Records. They released his CD “Unfulfilled Shopping Carts Syndrome” internationally.

Hailing from Transylvania, alto saxophonist Florin Clonta lives and performs in Canada.

Selected music & sound-art works by *Hypnomancer, (David Stout) - sonic artist, composer and songwriter. Hypnomancer is a musical shape shifter exploring the world of hybrid sound cultures blending a wide array of genres including ambient, noise, world fusion, alt-country, acid jazz, folktronica, underground hip-hop, IDM, Dub, experimental electronics, minimalism and other contemporary classical musics. His compositions, songs, and film scores are produced with a variety of instrumental approaches including, modular synthesizers, field recordings, folk instruments, generative AI and virtuosic guest instrumentalists.

Early Work:
His earlier works explored the fusion of electronic image synthesis, visual art, music and theatre. During this creative period Stout composed many scores for dance, theatre and film. He is also a founding member of the group, MaDula Hara with healer-singer, Malia Luna. The duo, inspired by global shamanic traditions, is devoted to exploring the healing potential of sound through music, ceremony and ritual performance.

Fundamental for his experience were and are the meetings with Beat Furrer, with whom he studied at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Graz (2005/2006), Rostock Summer Campus 2009 and IMPULS 2005, 2007,  2009.
After his studies with Renato Miani in Udine (Italy) he attended the IRCAM Cursus 1 in composition and computer music 2010-2011, the  Pierluigi Billone’s seminar/course Klangwege at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Graz (Austria) and the Stefano Gervasoni’s masterclass at the TEMA Academy in Milan (Italy).

Simone Movio received the “Komponisten-Förderpreise 2014” of the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung, he has been chosen as composer in residence at the Internationales Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia in Bamberg (Germany) concerning the season 2016/2017.

He won (among others) the Wiener Konzerthauses Composition Contest “Towards the Next 100 Years” (2012) - String Quartet (Wien, Austria), the "International Composition Competition Franz Schubert and Modern Music 2011" (Graz, Austria), the "IVME International Composition Contest 2011" (two first prizes in the two different categories - Antwerp, Belgium), the “Gianni Bergamo Music Award 2007 – Composition” (Lugano, Switzerland), the “Hamburger Klangwerktage 2007 – 2nd International Composition Contest, Lied Unlimited” (Hamburg, Germany)

He has been selected for the "9e Forum de la Jeune Création Musicale 2011" (SIMC – Clamart, France) and “IMPULS 2009” (Wien/Graz, Austria) as nominated composer.

He held composition seminars in the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Graz (Austria),  the institute Creama Hanyang University of Seoul (South Korea), National University of Music Bucharest (Romania), L. Cherubini conservatory in Firenze (Italy), the J. Tomadini conservatory in Udine (Italy).
