you're leaving your home planet and your visit went well. you're off to the next assignment. you touch down and immediately see remnants of a long forgotten city. beings lived here many moons ago. a nearby piece of rusted metal springs 30ft into the air and you take shelter under your spacecraft quickly. there seems to be pockets of gas just below the planet's surface. this normally would be enough to move on to your next brief but the clear sign of a past civilization overrides that flag. your boss will be pleased to see what you've found. you note down your meter readings and take pictures of the structures. you've never gotten to this point before. the last thing you need to do is to grab the robie kit from your ship and set him up. he won't harvest the resources but rather take small samples of each thing he can find and send the info back to base. you're not sure about this but apparently robies are very good at their jobs, maintaining the landscape while gathering enough information to learn as much as we can about who used to live here. see ya later robie, you're off to the next one.

your boss was happy to find your report on your last planet. your findings even got you a promotion to head analyst. the bureaucratic world you find yourself in is not for you. a necessary evil that hopefully won't be necessary much longer. you're tired of reports and you're tired of bouncing around so much. you hope that your new job might keep you on the planets longer than the few minutes it usually takes. you'd like to explore a bit beyond the algorithmically chosen landing spot. that's why you got into this in the first place. exploring is adventure, and adventure is healing. you need to heal. don't forget that.

usually your autopilot is set pretty well. the parameters were decided above your pay grade and it's had fairly good success finding your landing sites. what it cannot account for is the recent shift in meteorite behaviors. something about the makeup of these things is making your computer act all screwy. you wonder what planet they came from because apparently your coworkers in the geology department aren't doing their jobs properly. you like your job, even if it means you sometimes have to take over driving the ship yourself. oh shit! barely dodged that one.
