Ephesians

The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from the sky which had fallen to the earth. The key to the pit of the abyss was given to him. He opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke from a burning furnace. The sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke from the pit. Then out of the smoke came locusts on the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. They were told that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those people who don’t have God’s seal on their foreheads. They were given power, not to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a person. In those days people will seek death, and will in no way find it. They will desire to die, and death will flee from them. The shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for war. On their heads were something like golden crowns, and their faces were like people’s faces. They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like those of lions. They had breastplates, like breastplates of iron. The sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, or of many horses rushing to war. They have tails like those of scorpions, and stings. In their tails they have power to harm men for five months. They have over them as king the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is “Abaddon”, but in Greek, he has the name “Apollyon”. The first woe is past. Behold, there are still two woes coming after this.

The sixth angel sounded. I heard a voice from the horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Free the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates!”

The four angels were freed who had been prepared for that hour and day and month and year, so that they might kill one third of mankind. The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million. I heard the number of them. Thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them, having breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the horses’ heads resembled lions’ heads. Out of their mouths proceed fire, smoke, and sulfur. By these three plagues were one third of mankind killed: by the fire, the smoke, and the sulfur, which proceeded out of their mouths. For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails. For their tails are like serpents, and have heads, and with them they harm. The rest of mankind, who were not killed with these plagues, didn’t repent of the works of their hands, that they wouldn’t worship demons, and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood; which can’t see, hear, or walk.

The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to the sky, and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there will no longer be delay, but in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then the mystery of God is finished, as he declared to his servants, the prophets. The voice which I heard from heaven, again speaking with me, said, “Go, take the book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the land.”

I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little book.

He said to me, “Take it, and eat it. It will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.”

I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it. It was as sweet as honey in my mouth. When I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter. They told me, “You must prophesy again over many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.”

#255 "Are Women to Be Silent in Church?" (1 Corinthians 14:34-35)

The Gospel According to St. John the 21st Chapter verse 1 to 14.

After this Jesus revealed Himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and He revealed Himself in this way. Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered Him, “No.” He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off.

When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?” They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after He was raised from the dead. 

This is the Gospel of the Lord: Praise to You O Christ, according to the Gospel of St. John the 21st Chapter verse 1 to 14.

Scripture Reading: Gospel Of John 21:1-14

We will read 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 together and then we spend some quiet time in praying to God.

Points to think upon:
- Do you feel lacking in your life even when you believe in God?
- Would you ask God to reveal what He has bestowed on you - that His Word said that you are enriched in every way.
- Do you know your spiritual gifts, have you been using them for the Glory of God?
- Do you know that you are guiltless in the eyes of God because of the sacrifice of Jesus? 


Thanksgiving - 1 Corinthians 1:4-9

We will read together Colossians 3:1-10, addressing the main points and then pray quietly to God together. 

Points to think upon:
- Do you know that our eternal home is with God, not on this earth?
- Do you see that things on earth are passing away, ever changing?
- Do you have the assurance of yourself going home with God forever after you died physically?
- Do you daily think about things that are mattered to God? 
- Do you praise God for all wonderful things on earth?
- Have you surrendered your weaknesses, or bad habits and submit yourself to the Lordship of Jesus Christ?
- Have you asked God for forgiveness and have you asked God for His strength to sustain you and transform you?
- Have you put off your old self, surrender your old self to God who loves you?
- Have you put on the new self that Christ Jesus has given you? Do you know that you are a NEW CREATION in the sight of God?

What does the Lord require of us as His believers?

Points to think upon:
- Does the Lord want our love offerings & burnt offerings as much as our devoted heart to Him?
- What does our offerings and sacrifices mean to God?
- Do we see injustice around us and we do nothing about it?
- Do we appreciate peoples' kindness to us and we also show others kindness?
- Are we humbling ourselves before God in our every day life?
- Does our attitude and heart matter to God?

Micah 6:6-8, let's meditate on the Word of God, spend some time in quiet prayer and then come back together and pray. God bless you.
