Simon O'Rourke is a chainsaw carver with a story to tell—quite literally. His art breathes life into discarded timber, transforming trees into storytelling sculptures that captivate audiences around the globe. From his workshop in Wrexham, he creates anything from wildlife and mythical creatures to storytelling trails and abstract forms.

Simon first trained as an illustrator before working as a tree surgeon, and it was in 2005 that he fused both disciplines to become a full-time chainsaw artist. His sculptures blend anatomy, narrative, and humour with a remarkable attention to detail—whether it's a lifelike bear or a child peeking from behind a tree.

The "Giant Hand of Vyrnwy" earned him global acclaim, and since then, Simon's work has appeared across four continents. He works closely with local councils, schools, and brands, crafting not just art, but conversation-starting landmarks.

On SoundCloud, you'll find Simon sharing audio logs, behind-the-scenes stories, carving tips, and chats with fellow artists. His mission is to inspire creativity and encourage sustainable art practices using what nature leaves behind.

Simon is a brand ambassador for STIHL GB, and when not sculpting, he speaks at events and participates in live carving competitions. Wood, it seems, talks back when Simon listens.
