Inspired by and dedicated to Seikilos' Epitaph, the oldest complete, notated musical score surviving over centuries to our day,  from around 200 B.C. and 100 C.E. 

Seikilos, the ancient composer's 'carpe diem' message embedded in his pain over the loss of his wife or mother, is weaved together in this contemporary choral work with the celebration of composers' creative spirit over centuries and today.©Zsuzsanna Ardó

Instructions for listening: 

This is binaural audio, which approximates the way we experience sound in daily life. The spatial qualities of binaural sound only works in headphones - any will do, but over-ear headphones are best. 
Before you listen, make your body comfortable in whatever way you like, and put up a “do not disturb” sign on your door and your devices.

Give yourself 28 minutes of uninterrupted listening. Think of it as aural cinema, a short film in your mind, or an active dream. This is an invitation to surrender to your listening sense, to allow the sounds to suggest memories, feelings, textures, temperatures (the weather inside), and to allow your own internal storyteller to tell you your own story.

“Bizalom” was initially conceptualised with the 4DSOUND system at the Spatial Sound Institute in Budapest (2018). I developed it for different live sound systems over following years. I returned to it in residence at Arteles Creative Centre in Finland this year, developing a progressively complex spatial sound work about concepts of trust, creative inspiration, active dreaming, our emotional connection to changing weather patterns and “the weather inside”.

This is a work-in-progress 'sketch' of what will become a longer and more expansive spatial sound installation. This version was made for a listening session at Arteles to share with fellow resident artists. It roughly sketches five 'scenes', calling on five Muses, responding to five environments and memories.

“While you live, shine,

Life exists only for a short while,
And Time demands its toll.”

In life 🌱 we can and should(!) show who we are and let our inner self unfold. 🌸

These words, written nearly 2000 years ago in Ancient Greek 🏛️, were found on a tombstone in Tralleis.
They encourage us to recognize our own talents 🌟 and bring them into the world. 🌍
We should not focus too long on grief but make the best of the precious time ⏳ we are given. 💖

Because, as it continues:
To telos ho chronos apaitei – Time brings the end on its own!
