The title for this track should probably have been Heaven-Earth-Snow, but I'll stick with what I started with# saves; a lot of project file management.

All source sounds assembled in virtual modular using a combination of VCV Rack and Voltage Modular, manipulated and multi-track recorded ain one live session using a combination of mapped physical controls (VCV) and mouse (Voltage Modular, sequences). Splitting elements allowed me to pipe them through a variety of external effect which were in place at recording allowing me to adjust for and incorporate them into the performance. I'll single out Blackhole reverb from Eventide as this was it's first outing, purchased last week, with a discount code that made it worth a punt. Provided both the expanse of heaven and the swirling snow layer.

A spontaneous track I played on a cheap Yamaha piano that I recorded on my phone. The sequencer on my Poly-800 plays the bassline pad while a Volca FM instead plays its preset sequence simultaneously via MIDI clock.

The starting point for this was an experiment with converting the control voltages from a sequence inside Voltage Modular into MIDI data and passing that to Speldosa the music box plugin from Klevgrand: https://klevgrand.com/products/speldosa 

I then added the other elements including a second sequence and instance of Speldosa. In a break from the usual most of the effect processing was done externally. Although everything was recorded in one live take, mouse controlled to avoid MIDI channel conflicts. I tried recording the manipulations as automation tracks rather than just recording the results, OK in theory but a mess to work with, probably won't do that again.

I live in the uk and enjoy creating ambient soundscapes, these are based on various moods and thoughts that I have from reading horror and sci-fi books as well as cheesy 80's action & horror films.

I love the sci-fi stories by Neal Asher and the Cosmic Horor of H.P Lovecraft.

I also have a fondness of insects and arachnids.
