'The Hearts of the Suns' is a progressive psychedelic rock piece inspired by themes from Genesis, Matching Mole, and Pink Floyd, particularly drawing influence from tracks like "Echoes," "Time," "Careful with That Axe, Eugene" and "One of These Days" - the collaborative work of the great Nick Mason. 

Infused with elements of jazz and big band music, Mason's innovative approach involved the use of acoustic drums (both single- and double-headed), tuned percussion, electronic drums, and Rototoms, seamlessly blending these diverse elements into a harmonious whole.

Mason's drumming style set him apart with a gentler and more laid-back approach compared to other progressive rock drummers of the time. "The Hearts of the Suns" serves as a tribute to his unique contributions and musical legacy.

The track's tunes are inspired from David Joseph Bohm, a prominent scientist, stands as one of the most influential theoretical physicists of the 20th century. His unconventional ideas left a lasting imprint on quantum theory, neuropsychology, and the philosophy of the mind. His profound insights fundamentally altered my perspective on life and death.

He once remarked, "The ability to perceive or think differently is more important than the knowledge gained. In some sense, man is a microcosm of the universe;  therefore, what man is, is a clue to the universe. We are enfolded in the universe." 
'The Hearts Of The Suns' is a sonic exploration echoing his profound views.

From the January 1994 session; a throwback to our earlier practice of doing covers. This one of course by early Pink Floyd. Buckle up.

Set the controls for the heart of the sun

This is a collection of tracks from my first ever band which was started in 1990, was mostly active until 1994 then made a few sporadic recordings until 1999.
 Initially a covers band with no vocalist, we transitioned into recording original instrumentals at home on an old Fostex X-15 1980s 4-track, using plenty of experimentation/innovation to get the most out of just 4 tracks. Common Road were myself, Matt McGain, Cliff Poole and Tim McGain. I will periodically add further tracks - enjoy!
