I have really never been happy with how this mix came out, but this song isn't easy to take on by any means. Over the last few years Shadow of Intent has become one of my favorite metal bands and I have learned most of their songs.

I love all of Shadow of Intent’s compositions and sometimes you can make their music so symphonic. Chris is a master of composing that element but I wanted to take this and add more orchestral elements along with a different tone and texture on guitars.

Shadow of Intent - Flying The Black Flag

In 2018 I encountered Shadow of Intent purely by chance when their "The Horror Within" randomly appeared on my YouTube feed. The sheer intensity of their sonic assault took me by surprise especially considering how young they all looked, yet their talent was unmistakable. being thoroughly impressed by Chris Wiseman's solos, I on a comprehensive search and spent to every song I could by them.

Although I have not always been a fan ofcore, primarily due to the harsh vocals Ben's approach resonates perfectly, making it impossible to imagine anyone else leading this band. Shortly after discovering them, they released "Melancholy," featuring the drumming virtuoso Anthony Barone, which is a tour de force from the very note. While many songs from this album hold place for me, their magnum opus remains "The Dreaded Abyss." This instrumental track is, in opinion, otherworldly, and creating the drum map for it has been one of the most challenging and frustrating experiences of my life. I someone else hears this piece and reacts as I did. Though I do not claim to be on Chris Wiseman's technical level I am a devoted fan who has invested countless hours attempting to master this epic masterpiece.
