Shortwave Shindig 2014 Broadcast

On August 16, 2024, I recorded these clips from two Russian number stations: S06, also known as "Russian Man," and M12, an active Morse channel. The recordings were made at frequencies of 11149.0 kHz and 15931.0 kHz. You'll hear one station in each ear, with an added layer of static from 27909.0 kHz. This mix was created using Audacity and is relatively simple. Enjoy listening!

Dual Signals

On August 14, 2024, I stumbled upon a unique "drumbeat" - a time signal broadcasting on 5000.0 kHz from Colorado. This rhythmic pulse caught my attention and became the driving force behind this recording. In addition to the time signal, I also captured transmissions on 12613.0 kHz, 28200.0 kHz, and 7255.0 kHz, each adding its texture to the soundscape.

This mix weaves the steady beat of time with the varied frequencies I recorded that day. Listen closely, and let the drumbeat guide you through this auditory journey. Enjoy the movement of sound!

Drumbeat

On August 12, 2024, I simultaneously captured this transmission from two different locations: Iceland and the Netherlands. The recording has a cold, droning quality that reminded me of the stillness of winter.  In Audacity, I duplicated each track and dropped one of each an octave, deepening the monotony and enhancing the eerie, wintry vibe. The result is a repetitive, droning soundscape that mirrors winter's slow, relentless approach.

Winter Is Coming

I aimed to capture the serene yet vast feeling of early morning flights and the boundless sky in this piece. The audio, recorded on August 11, 2024, from various frequencies (13264.0 kHz, 5505.0 kHz, 5082.0 kHz, 16705.0 kHz, and 16698.0 kHz), features transmissions from Shannon, Ireland Volmet.

This mix conveys the calm and anticipation of those early hours, with distant frequencies and weather reports creating an expansive, atmospheric soundscape. Let your mind take flight as you listen to the sounds of the sky.

Voices Of The Sky

Sometimes, intentionally using the wrong band can be fun. This was recorded on a KiwiSDR system in Austria, on 11534.85 kHz, using IQ mode. It picked up crosstalk between two stations and sounded like a rave at the gates of hell.

This one is essentially unaltered. To add some depth, I added copies of the track on the left and right channels and applied VST effects in Audacity.
