Dr. Adrian Schmidtke, born 1972, is a bass player, composer and producer from Berlin, Germany. He is founder and CEO of Studio Dr. S. Music, a label and recording studio in Berlin.

Adrian had his first public appearance in 1985 on classical guitar and 1987 with his first band on bass and vocals. He studied the instrument under famous teachers: Lincoln Goines, Nathan East and Anthony Wellington, just to name a few.

Although the Electric Bass was and ever will be his main instrument, Adrian plays Acoustic Bass (Violin Bass) if necessary. The early years with extensive training on the classical guitar has still its value, for example, if a recording needs a couple of chords or when harmonics go beyond white keys only.

Studio Dr. S. is his main solo-project, which stylistically spans from Ambient to instrumental R&B, Funk and Smooth Jazz. Besides his main project Adrian was part of dozens of projects covering a very broad variety of styles — from Jazz to Gospel & Soul, Funk, Blues, Bigband, Experimental or even Heavy Metal — as both, bass player and producer (and in extremely rare cases as backing vocalist).
