S2E5 The X-Files Part 1

LGBTQ is quite a handful of letters, yet it represents at least 9 million people in the US alone, and that was as of 2011. There are certainly millions more people under the rainbow flag in the world today, and millions more being born every year. Yet straight, cisgender people tend to know very little about what LGBTQ folks go through every day. And that’s where Queer Studies begins. This show seeks to educate straight/cisgender folks about how to be good allies to the LGBTQ community. People tend to fear what they don’t understand, but once you understand someone, it is very hard to be afraid of that person, and that is our goal. To reduce fear through knowledge. To show that LGBTQ people are just that…people. We all do the same goofy stuff, it’s just that some of us do that stuff in a slightly different way, and there is no need to be afraid of each other just because of who we love, or what gender (or lack thereof) we feel ourselves to be. We can’t promise that this show will always be easy to hear; sadly there is a lot of hate and fear that has to be addressed, but we can promise that our goal will always be to bring the straight/cis community and the LGBTQ community together through understanding, tolerance, and love.

Queer Studies Ep. 1 - Pleased to Meet You

Jason, Richard and Allison join together to discuss TV that they love in the age of digital streaming services. They take it in turns to share, or inflict upon others, their favourite series, old and new. The only rule is that it played on TV somewhere. 

Buck Rogers, Quantum Leap and Boston Legal were the opening throw downs from each presenter. What will they watch next on their patrol of the remote?

Do Ask Do Tell is a weekly discussion show of all things LGBTQ. Initially presented by Ian Pope and Ari LW with a host of guests, the show has grown in 2013 to include Allison Downing and Richard Smith on the weekly roster. Do Ask Do Tell is deliberately presented by a group of people with diverse sexualities and gender identities to offer a fuller, more-rounded discussion of issues facing the LGBTQ community and the straight-world's response. With an ethos of social justice and unconditional equality, the show highlights current challenges and celebrates the good news in the move towards a more tolerant and equal society.

Richard and Allison's Super Happy Fun Time rose up from the ashes of Weekend Watches, morphing into a show for the Simply Syndicated community of listeners. We went live and opened the phone lines to connect with each other, share the things that have made the week great, and bring some fun to the weekend. It also showed that the community could support each other through life's challenges, and bring the most wonderfully diverse group of people together. 

Saturdays ain't the same without it, and the now legendary Christmas Eve Specials mark the beginning of the holidays for Synners everywhere. If Movies You Should See is the heart of Simply Syndicated, then SHaFT is its soul.
