Evolution 221 is an electroacoustic piece that investigates the relationship between man and nature from an acoustic point of view, investigating the ecological and sustainability aspects of that relation. 

Written in connection with the sound and visual context of the Pharo Park of the city of Marseille, for the Viberation #4 headphone concert in 2022. 

The piece presents an electroacoustic processing of discarded and recycled sound materials, deliberately elaborated to find an ideal acoustic imprint of all the passages and crossings that this place has seen over the centuries: the city, the sea, the port, the view of the horizon lines, the park and the human relationship with nature, make up an ideal sound time lapse through space and time, imposing a reflection on the kind of evolution we are participating in.

Episode 186 - Laura Barrett, Clif Family Winery

Here is my live cover of Troye Sivan's One of Your Girls! I got up at 6am to go out into the desert by the Theban Hills in Luxor, Egypt, to film this cover. I set up and got half way through a performance when security was sent by an outpost in the mountains to stop me. They made me delete all footage, and luckily we didn't get into much trouble. So I then went looking for another place to film for FOUR HOURS, but each one was either in view of an outpost, too windy, or had street dogs madly guarding their territory. My friends, and I, had carried around a mirror, and drawers, and chairs around the desert and in the Theban Hills, repeatedly. So we ended up on the rooftop of a hotel, which was our last options. But this also didn't work. So just started crying. Embarrassing. So we decided to convince the security from the first place to let us film and eventually it worked! They took us to an even better location, and after my laptop crashing and numerous problems with camera's in the heat, I finally got a recording!

London based Alt-pop artist TUUDI began writing songs on an old untuned piano at the age of 12. “While growing up, I was hideously quiet so making music was about giving myself a voice.” In 2020, she moved to explore her interest in production and sound engineering. Here she’s spent the last three years perfecting her craft and sound, to bring to her audience immersive storylines, with hints of electronic dance music, 80s synth pop, and dreamy ambiences. Influenced by the likes of AURORA, Lorde, BANKS, New Order and Bjork, TUUDI’s cinematic interpretation of pop music is filled with characteristics which cross the lines of genre boundaries and create an equally futuristic, and retrospective sound. Her first single, Just Like Before - a story about regret, betrayal, and conflict in the breakdown of a relationship, is due to be released on the 26th of January 2024.

'Gesang der Maschinen' is an immersive audio walk that unveils the hidden sonic landscapes behind the scenes of the opera house. Through a ten-channel sound installation, Nathalie Brum brings to the forefront the often-overlooked mechanical sounds that underpin opera and theatrical productions. Presented both inside and in the outdoor spaces of the opera house, the installation transforms the venue into a space resonanting into public space where the backstage machinery takes center stage. 

By capturing and recontextualizing the ambient noises of ventilation systems, dimmer cabinets, and other backstage equipment, Brum invites listeners to experience the opera house from a new auditory perspective. The project challenges traditional notions of music and noise, encouraging a deeper appreciation for the acoustic environments that often go unnoticed.

'Gesang der Maschinen' not only highlights the intricate interplay between architecture and sound but also prompts a reflection on the often-invisible infrastructures that shape our sensory experiences in public spaces.

Nathalie Brum (born 1988 in Katowice in Poland) is a sound artist and architect living and working in Cologne. Her main interest lies in underlying and overseen infrastructures and its soundscape. The installations strongly connected to the space of its origin translocate sounds from hidden places to the public.

Nicola Cappelletti (ITA/FRA) is an electroacoustic sound artist, performer and composer. He focuses his artistic research on the relationship between acoustic sound and electronic processing in various expressive contexts of the contemporary arts, such as dance, visual arts, theater and poetry. He collaborates with numerous artists, performers and musicians in various fields of contemporary music.
As a performer his activity ranges from popular music, with forays into rock and club music, to concerts of radical improvisation for prepared instruments, concrete sounds and electronics. As a composer, his work has been presented at ICMC, SMC Conference, NYCEMF, Ars Electronica, Muslab, Atemporanea, Colloqui di Informatica Musicale, Lund Contemporary, Simultan Festival, Mantis Festival, Cantiere internazionale d’Arte of Montepulciano, Festival Nuova Consonanza, Seoul International Computer Music Festival, Festival Orizzonti, Encode, Dancity. He is a member of the Opificio Sonoro ensemble directed by Marco Momi and he holds the chair of Electroacoustic Music Composition at the Conservatory of Music in Cuneo.
