“Pina Colada is a Love Song” is my take on “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes.  However, it’s not a cover song.  Instead, it’s my interpretation of that song.  Set to a pop-punk beat, it is definitely NOT a 70’s yacht rock slow burn.  It is a high energy look at the characters from the original song.  I hope you like my spin on it.

Lyrics:
It didn’t start in a great place, but it happened, he was bored
Sick of living Johnny One Note, what he wanted was a chord
And in a self-destructive moment, he took and threw it all away
Though he thought that he was granite, it turned out that he was clay

What he saw seemed kind of perfect, and in a way it kind of was
If he could see beyond the history, if he could see beyond the flaws
She turned out to be just right, not too hot and not too cold
And in the instant that he saw her, he realized that she was gold

Formed in 2021, Selestadian quintet PUNKY TUNES quickly made a name for themselves with energetic shows featuring covers of Nofx, Rancid, Offspring, Interrupters, Bad Religion, Pennywise, 7 Seconds, SOIA, Kid Dynamite or Turnstile.
The band quickly moved on to compositions mainly influenced by the skate-punk and HxC scenes.
