Bass Cellar residents Miss Haze and SkullDuck came down from the northern parts of middle New England to engage in some half hour rotations on the Playground. We went hard and heavy through the whole show, each playing off the others' energy. I led off the show with some heavy MC laden tracks and a new remix by Boston local NM+ of DJ Steppo - Benz as well as Steppo's new tune R9 Eclipse closing out my first set. Next up was SkullDuck, with he and Miss Haze going for two rotations plus a bit before I closed out the show.

For Father's Day I had a couple dads who DJ DnB come down to the studio for the stream. I opened the night with some 160 and jungle I was testing out before a gig in Connecticut, and DJ Elemence continued the vibe with his hour of footwork, juke, jungle, and liquid. SkullDuck kicked things up a few notches with a heavy set planted firmly in the 170s. He and I closed out the show with a tag that just kept escalating through the close of the show.

Playground: Field Trip - Meet your Trip Monitors

For our second Field Trip at Zuzu in Cambridge, MA, we introduced our residents/Trip Monitors, @dj-nomercy and @skullduck join me to help manage the stream, and close out the night. To give the audience a taste of what we each bring to the table, we took 30 minute turns, starting with DJ NoMercy, then SkullDuck, and myself rounding out the trio. DJ NoMercy brought the scratching, SkullDuck brought the jump up, and I welded it together with the heavier tunes in my bag. We gave SkullDuck the final slot to bring us home from the February Field Trip! 

Catch the Field Trip LIVE at Zuzu in Cambridge on the FIRST SUNDAY of every month. 
NO COVER and tunes run from 9-after midnight.

For our April Field Trip, Furious ( @furiousconte ) and Dabu ( @ghtoblastr ) combined to deliver a three hour tag filled with upfront rollers, sweet reeces, and never a limp snare. Trip Monitor @skullduckdnb closed out the night with a half hour of energy to keep the dancefloor moving til the end.

June's edition of Playground: Field Trip was the best attended yet! After SkullDuck got the music started, Miss Haze delivered an hour on the decks along with working the mic so night. Elzwerth brought his full bag of tricks to wow the crowd with ninety minutes of pure jungle vibes and a bit of the scritch scritch before SkullDuck closed out the show, with Miss Haze putting the topping on the night. 

Unfortunately, Internet issues meant no stream, but we did record just as if we had, leading to the introduction of a YT channel! https://www.youtube.com/@Mr.EyesLeesPlayground will host the video replay at the same time as the SoundCloud audio posting here. YouTube will keep current with new shows, and slowly will archive the best of the first 200 (posted Wednesdays).

Playground: Field Trip - Tribute to DJ NoMercy w DJ Kohaku + Shaolyn Relyk

Sunday night we brought Maine on the Field Trip, with DJ Kohaku and Shaolyn Relyk making the trek down to join SkullDuck, Miss Haze, and myself in our tribute to our late Trip Monitor DJ NoMercy.
  
SkullDuck and I tagged the first hour 15 with a dose of tunes inspired by Teddy, followed by a solid hour of liquid and rollers from Shaolyn Relyk. DJ Kohaku took over to dazzle us with soulful tunes and heavy beats. Miss Haze provided proper vocal accompaniment on the mic, and y'all danced till the lights came on making this one a night Teddy would be proud of. 

Thank you to Kohaku and Shaolyn Relyk for making the long drive down. It was a pleasure to meet you finally Shaolyn Relyk. Amber, I always appreciate you, your music, and your company. Thank you for being a great friend and a fabulous DJ. Shouts to Craig Rumble on the cdj3ks for the night. It's always fun to play on fresh gear. 

Much love and respect to everyone who has supported the Field Trip @ Zuzu so far. This was the best attended so far, and we've got more in store the rest of the year.

For August's Playground: Field Trip we introduced two new Trip Monitors to the team. Miss Haze will be our resident MC, as well as taking her turns behind the decks, and Synesthesia brings his hard hitting selections to Trip Monitor team, keeping us with some of that heavy edge DJ NoMercy used to bring. For this residents' night we took 20 minute rotations to keep things fresh and meld our sounds together in true Trip Monitor fashion. I led off the night, followed by Synesthesia, then Miss Haze, with SkullDuck rounding out the rotation. Miss Haze kept on the mic through the night as well, with the crowd dancing on til the lights came on. I gave Synesthesia my place in the last rotation and closed out the night with a few choice tunes.

Episode 216 started off as a solo show due to some scheduling hiccups, when a wild SkullDuck appeared to shoulder some of the load. I led off the first hour, with SkullDuck taking us through hour two, and then we split the last hour into half hour segments.

Mr. EyesLee is a Boston-based DJ specializing in the soulful side of jungle and DnB, matching vocals and basslines with three deck blends and cuts to bring the listener on an auditory journey. Mr. EyesLee plays sets full of blends and moods from 160 bpm and up, taking the listener on a journey from start to finish. Whether 160, jungle, liquid, or rollers, he always has a heavy focus on basslines that move the crowd, wasting little energy as he blends tracks and themes and keeps the dancefloor wanting more

After coming up through the southeastern US rave scene in the late 90s/early 00s, Mr. EyesLee now primarily performs around New England, currently holding residencies at elements (the longest running single-venue DnB weekly in North America) and Playground: Field Trip in Cambridge, MA, and has played events from small weeklies, to long-running monthlies, and large festivals from CT to ME. Highlights include Tropical Dreams in Sturbridge, MA, Tight Crew raves in Providence, RI and Boston, MA, and opening support for acts such as BCee, Degs, and Paul T & Edward Oberon. 

In addition to live shows, Mr. EyesLee also runs the Playground, “Your Sunday destination for dnb, jungle, and other high tempo tunes”, streaming Sundays 8-11PM EDT, on Twitch.tv/MrEyesLee, and first Sunday live Field Trips at Zuzu in Cambridge, MA, with guests having come from around New England and beyond in 200+ shows and counting. The Playground focuses primarily on Drum & Bass/Jungle and associated subgenera, letting DJs showcase their take on DnB. Guests have come from around New England and beyond, with every state in the region, along with CA, NY, NJ, and VA, having been represented at least once among the 200+ weekly shows to date.
