We wanted to create something reminiscent of that classic Beach Boys era, rock-pop psychedelia. Something cheesy, but in a cool way, the type of tune where you can’t help but do a little dance. 

It’s a story of infatuation and social ineptitude, of romantic interest gone awry, one I can imagine resonating with a fair few listeners as we stand together in awkward solidarity.

It’s good to embrace your flaws and we couldn’t think of a better way to go about that than declaring it publicly with a crazy drum beat, bicycle bell percussion and a slap bass solo.

This track presents a modern twist on the boy-meets-girl cliché of the 1960’s verse-maker and while it’s not exactly a ‘true story’, I’d like to think that all stories have a truth about them. This story’s truth is that social interactions are tricky, sometimes it’s just easier to simply smile and wave.

The "Merakey Collective" is a group of Swiss producers dedicated to the production of music for breaking battles. The collective was formed during the 2020 Covid lockdown through an exchange between B-Boy Slimspin from Biel and DJ OB One, with the idea of a "Swiss Allstar Breakbeat Compilation". 

Today, the "Merakey Collective" consists of 8 producers and DJs from Switzerland who specialize in the production and release of music for b-boys and b-girls. Since 2020, they have already released seven projects that have reached a total of over 1 million streams on all streaming platforms. Their songs have been featured on the official soundtrack of the prestigious Battle of the Year breakdance event and DJs have used them at battles from Brazil to Japan.
